***I am no longer taking any cosplay commissions.Sorry for any inconvenience.***
This is the first of a set of commissions I'm doing for and of Calintz and Azel from the game Magna Carta: Tears of Blood. The character designs are by the amazing Hyung-tae Kim and I based these from his original artwork for the game.
I'm only showing you details because my silly dressform does not do this costume justice at all. So you have to wait till August until I get some real pictures of the lovely Miss momo wearing the thing.
And no, do not ask me to make one for you. Give me about a year and maybe I'll consider making another costume of Kim's.
Don't get me wrong, I love this thing to death, and it was awesome of have the opportunity to bring his artwork to life, but holy crap man! Why do you have to design such crazy and impractical characters?!

Wow, that looks amazing. Is there any way you could give me tips on how you did your feathers? I've been debating using real feathers, fur, or fabric but am torn.

Hmm, I've noticed that no-one has asked you about the zipper pulls and the beads, etc.
If it's not too much to ask, I'm curious about how you constructed them

I just used those plastic silver beads you can get at wal-mart and strung them together on a hat pin to make the long zipper pulls.
The little cross piece on the upper pull is from a toggle clasp.

You work very well with these commissions. I only get asked for them when people realize I make my own cosplay...

OMG! I know right! It's bad enough just drawing fanart..At least Calintz has a decent amount of refs @__@...You've done a brilliant job though, I'm really impressed.

what kind of material did you make the top out of ?

I used a cotton twill with a little stretch to it. Very easy to work with and paint on.

May I ask how you got the feathers to stand out? I'm thinking of re-doing a calintz I did quite the rush job on... made him in a day ._.;;

I laminated wire between two layers of fabric with iron on no-sew stuff (I forget what's its called). Then I painted them with fabric paint.

It was an off white cotton stretch twill. Very nice to work with and affordable too

yup, you don't need to spend heaps of money on fabric to have a good costume. Though it also helps to know of good discount fabric stores too

no, it was just a local discount store here in Vancouver. I've never ordered fabric online because I always have to feel it first

Gah, you did such an awesome job with this, especially considering how complicated the design was. My favorite part has to be those feathers! Absolutely beautiful work transforming the cloth into very believeable feathers by the paintwork and the way they're cut... Your ingenuity with creating costumes continually amazes me. ^__^

This blows my mind. There's a Chinese(?) cosplay woman on Ebay which, until now, had the only AMAZING Calintz costume I've ever seen.
Seeing such detailed photos, I think you've got her beat. And if I buy from you, I dont have to outsource to China for a wicked costume. XD;
On a side note: Too bad (I thought) the game blew. Love Kim's work, but, it can hold its own. No shitty RPG needed.

Wow, the detail on this is incredible! I really love how you did the feathers on the collar and the tail of the jacket thing. Usually, people just attach feathers to the end of that but I like how you painted the strips of fabric!

I was trying to replicate the original paintings, so what better way then to actually paint on the fabric! I just couldn't get the same effect with real feathers.

It's so complicated because designers sit in there studios going "Alright...how can we mess with cosplayers now? Oh hellz yeah! They'll go insane trying to figure out the physics and purpose of THAT!!!"

That is incredible! I've been wanting to see someone make a really good Calintz cosplay for so long, but I think most of them end up hanging themselves halfway through ^^
