The irony here is that a lot of Prohibition Era Mafia bosses got taken down by either each other, or people like Dawn...
Ask Al Capone about his taxes, he'll tell you.

Wow, you know I think the movie would have been even more interesting if it had been set in this style and period. What a neat take on the characters.Β

Agreed having a sort of "Boardwalk empire" "Zotopia" mixture is made even more fun because it naturally rolls the classic cartoon vibe into the equation. Looking forward to seeing some more of this.Β

This is another fantastic 1920s piece! Once again you've absolutely nailed the 1920s aesthetic and I love the personality you can just see in each character!
Also, I'm the writer of the story Cimar referenced in their comment. With your permission, I'd love to include a link to your work in my next chapter.

Ahh hello!!! I've actually had a couple people mention your fic to me so I've read a bit of it! Not too far into it yet but you write such a beautiful mood and your language and dialogue for the time is so lovely to read! It's hard to come by pieces online with an understanding like that let alone the ability to fluidly put it together in a plot! I would be so so flattered if you chose to include a link to my work and would love to extend the same courtesy to you for any Zootopia/20s pieces I submit in the future! I'd love to point any of my watchers that are interested who don't already know about your fic in your direction.
Well written 20's works deserve attention!
And thank you for the lovely comment, I really do appreciate it!

Thank you for the kind words about my story! I'll definitely include a link to your work in my next chapter, and I know I'd love to see more 1920s-inspired pieces from you. You really do a fantastic job getting the little details of their outfits right and imbuing the characters with, well, character.

I dunno, she's from an agricultural village.Β Technically she grew up to be a bootlicker, but against her parents' wishes and the politics of prohibition-era Bunnyburrough were probably not the same as they were by the time of the 2016 movie.Β Cops likely could not have made themselves out to be the heroes then that they could in 2016.Β She'd have loved Capone.Β

^^That's very true, and an interesting take on it as well. To draw a parallel for Judy being such a lawful character interested in policing for my own concept I pegged her as a part of the Volstead Act. But by that observation she absolutely could have just as easily been a supporter of Capone. It did also occur to me that she does turn a blind eye to the very obvious Mafia presence we have in Zootopia already, Mr. Big. And who's to say she couldn't do something similar in a 20's take on the story.
That's a very interesting comment, tbh. c:

Like in Lawless?

Nolybaby In reply to Fail-Seeker [2018-01-10 01:10:40 +0000 UTC]
Similar, yes! Bootleggers could be anywhere from creating the liquor to just transporting it, like smuggling. I feel like Nick would want a minimal chunk of that line of work but he's definitely clever enough to be involved. I think the appeal from using country bumpkins like the Bondurants in Lawless was that they weren't as high profile like some of the stuff going on in the city.
That's an excellent movie, btw! lol

Maybe Nick could be like Floyd Banner (Gary Oldman) and came down to escape the law to start anew? Nick dresses like him, doesn't he?
I love that movie too!
