I finally finished reading all 14 books of the 'wizard of OZ by L. Frank Baum' a few years ago. I love it!
Now there is a 15 book but it was made after the Author died-- so I don't consider that canon to the series.
And I liked the way it ended in the 14 book they didn't need any more.
Oh and if you ever do decided to read them read them with the original picture's it helps tell the story better!
But if already read them then thats cool too!

I am so happy someone else took the time to read some of the books and not just look at the movie. I love the books, but I almost never encounter someone who knows the true color of the shoes, or the regional colors of the Land of Oz. this is beautiful.

The Good Witch of the North acts as a babysitter for Ojo!
Ojo complains about the way the Good Witch set the table for dinner. The food smells funny, and it isn't fixed the way Ozma does it. He likes the way Ozma does it better. The Witch yells to Ojo that she's not Ozma. Ojo says Ozma loves him more than life itself. She lets him do whatever he wants. Ojo calls the Good Witch of the North a nasty ol' barracuda. The Good Witch can't believe she postponed a date for this.

Interesting and beautiful. But why does good witch of north look like fairy?

Very cool! I like the fairy-godmother wings you gave to the witch of the north.

It's nice two see two different looking wicked witches, rather than two similar, generically ugly old hags.

It would be cool if yo could do the Mombi the former wicked witch of the north and the wicked witch of the south.

Oooh, nice drawing

I love your lines, they're done with pen, right? Also the colours go really nicely together. And good job on the witches' design too, it gives them character.

Your shading is a bit off, though it's still excellent for a first time in Photoshop I for one never or hardly-ever use soft brushes. I like to set the flow low (30%-ish) and the opacity to pen pressure, lay down the basic shades and then go over it by picking colors (alt-clicking). Everything I say here is just a personal preference, it's always a good idea to experiment and find out what fits your style

Overall it's a very lovely drawing, I really like it! Good luck with Photoshop

I love this!! its so cute!! the pen drawing is beautifully done! as for the photoshop bit I would add some more higlights, especially to the red witch. I see that the red is also coloured out of the contours, if this is what you wanted you should do all the colours over the contour lines but to divide the witches i would rather stick to their own colour inside the lines.

Other than that it is a beautiful drawing and certainly doesn't look like it's your first one!!! Great work!

I love the diffrent colors you used here, and how graceful Glinda looks! I like the sketchyness of the lines, and for your first photoshop this is amazing! I love the little "OZ" in the center. The only thing that I think is a little odd is that the witch of the west looks a little bit like a man

I'm a huge Wicked fan and I do like the movie better than the book, but there are elements of the book that I liked a lot (I've got the Annotated version)
I love how Nessarose/The Witch of the East looks, sort of like some badass duelist witch in Harry Potter. (Plus I like her gloves). G'linda looks so beautiful and graceful. Elphaba/The Witch of the West looks tough, and I like how you've merged elements of the booka and movie versions. Locasta/The Witch of the North reminds me of a Smurf though. Love the colors and how the it seems like power and light is aminating from the staffs and wand.

this looks very nice, and I'm not just saying that because I love the Wizard of Oz. The colouring and shading technique you used looks almost traditional yet it's clean and neat. I love the colour arranging idea and the style - fits nicely with a story book look

Personally, I think Silver is the best, it goes very well on the Yellow (Gold!) Brick Road.

Wow, this put a smile right on my face. Each of the characters are very well-realized--original, while still being recognizable. And the construction of the piece is fantastic; each of the witches are seperate, even divided by line (and color), and yet they flow into each other, just a bit, exactly as they must.

My only suggestion is that this should probably be catergorized under fanart.

I like it how everything is sort of not caged in their own little section if you know what I mean XD I think East is my favourite in this picture, I think it's that look in her eye lol
Did you use some sort of texture in the background by chance??

nonsensology In reply to RedFishing [2011-05-28 14:45:01 +0000 UTC]

thanks!!!
the texture is really just the paper I drew the lines on, it got enhanced when I made the lines darker.

This is pretty good for a first photoshop. I like how you incorporated elements related to each witch rather than drawing all four of them and leaving it at that.

nonsensology In reply to Pringer-Z [2011-05-15 19:45:35 +0000 UTC]

thanks!!! yeah, I think the witches were really cool. It's a shame that a lot of people only think of the MGM movie or Wicked when it comes to Oz. The original books are so under appreciated.
