Description A quick doodle trying out my new water-colour pencils that I'm really excited about after an amazing James Gurney demo I went to the other day. I still don't have the hang of them, but they are REALLY fun and with some practice, I think we'll be able to do great things together.

The scan isn't perfect, but you know....that's how it goes. X)

Lol, yaaay limited colour palette! Actually, I did have some more colours, and I probably could have gotten her a darker skin tone, but I the paper wasn't handling the wet medium well, and layering more onto it was NOT the answer. I was kind of going for a colour scheme that was more just a hint of colour than an actual full-blown coloured piece. You can't tell in this because of the scanner, but in actuality, Faina's hair is blue. I'm kind of sad I lost my whimsical colour scheme, actually...

You got a really nice effect with the watercolors here. The colors are so soft and precious. Definitely continue making pieces with watercolor pencils!

Thanks! I think watercolour pencils are going to inspire me to start doing more watercolour stuff again. They're all the fun of wc without all the messiness and cleaning up afterwards! XD

Yeah you do...they be awesome. I need to get some paper that agrees with them more though. My sketchbook poaper didn't really like the water part of the water colour. That's why it's kind of blurry on one side there....the paper was buckling. But with some nicer sketch paper I think these things could be really great for doodling....especially since, I don't know about you, but I REALLY need to start working color into my sketches and brainstorming. I usually don't use it anywhere except finished pieces. X|

Naw yeah man, I need to start doing that too X| I'm usually too afraid to ink/color most of the sketches I like cuz I tend to screw them up. Need to get over that.
