It's skimmed over in the first episode, but the story of Nightmare Moon is pretty heartbreaking when you think about it. Having to banish her own sister for a thousand years had to be tough on Celestia.
This was basically an experiment with color and to see what I could do with it. Also I'd never really successfully done a piece that integrated different scenes, so I'm pretty happy with how this came out.
I used a different painting style for this one. Loving these new brushes I'm using. Also I finally figured out what Flow does in Photoshop.

The story of Celestia and Luna leading up to the banishment of NightMare Moon is a real case of Fridge Tear-Jerker. I can easily imagine Celestia feeling dead inside after the whole thing of 'banishing her little sister to the Moon'. She was happier than she was letting on when she saw Luna free of the curse of NightMare Moon, I'm sure of it.

If this was an experiment, I'd certainly say it was a success! I love your choice of colours, and how they appear (at least to me) to represent different slices of time and space - light and puffy oranges and reds for the late afternoon, dark purple for the night, and nebulanic green and red for deep space. It's also very pastel-ly, and I don't just mean the colours - the style is very reminicient of a pastel drawing. All in all, a pic well done.

There's a lot of nice touches in the little details in this one. The six stars of the Elements of Harmony. The framing of the manes. And Luna's expression (and lack of star mane) at the bottom is superb; it really speaks to the frail thing she is while recovering from the Nightmare. Well done.

nice use of a traditional effect on everything and a somewhat 3 part story on it, i think you got luna color scheme wrong is'int she suppose to be light blue purplish? she looks kinda grey

Ok WOOOOW. I seriously, this is beautiful. I love the colors here, captured the mood really well. Dark and demeaning in the top, and absolutely soothing in the bottom. Not to mention, you summarized the story so wonderfully.

haha, Flow generally works better with brushes that are more chalky or painterly. It affects how much paint/chalk/whatever is laid down with each stroke. The color isn't lighter like if you lowered the opacity, there's just less color there. It's really neat! Plus if you lower the flow, you can go over your stroke without lifting the pen and it'll get darker.
It's easier to just do it than explain. xD
