Yup, in a literal sense. They're basically fated for each other (and that IS canon!!) although not in a romantic way... *cries*

well there are a lot or rumors that it will actually be led to believe that's what it is.
But that's going to change the entire demographic for it...

NoranB In reply to Kyoky-San [2013-03-12 04:44:20 +0000 UTC]
In terms of the depth of feeling for each other, they are basically in love.
I think Kishi should really change the demographic to shonen-ai, or make their "in love" status official. He might lose some fans but if they stop reading just because of their immature phobia of boys love (boys love is NOT porn T.T) then they're not good fans... imo. Sorry about the random rant xD

Kyoky-San In reply to NoranB [2013-03-12 16:32:33 +0000 UTC]
No, i totally agree!!!
Kishi's done interviews where people always ask if they will end up being a couple, his reply is always "of all the fan pairings that people have made, Sasuke and Naruto is my favorite."
However, if shonen jump doesn't like it, they'll probably force him to do what they consider "proper" I don't think he knew what was going to happen when he decided to go into contract with them.

Kyoky-San In reply to NoranB [2013-03-13 16:30:46 +0000 UTC]
have you ever read the pilot?
It's fantastic, he sent it to Shounen Jump, and they asked him to revise it, of course now it's the most popular manga in the world.
However, it never had anything to do with ninja... >.>
and no, it's true that his favorite pairing is Sasuke and Naruto, because the entire manga is based off of himself (Naruto) and his high school best friend (Sasuke) of course those aren't their real names but, it's the character development.

NoranB In reply to Kyoky-San [2013-03-16 01:50:52 +0000 UTC]
Oh yeah, I read that a long time ago and I remember wondering why it was in another "world"... I think the current Naruto is better (there's no competition because Pilot is only a one-shot), I guess it depends on how well Kishimoto takes his advices.
Oh wow, I guess he must have had a very strong "bond" with that high school best friend of his :S Although, it'd be kind of weird to draw romance between Naruto and Sasuke if Kishi thinks of them like that (and he already has a wife and all..)

Kyoky-San In reply to NoranB [2013-03-16 17:38:15 +0000 UTC]
That's always the argument that comes up. "He has a wife and kids..."
But the response is always, "A lot of people have families but that doesn't mean that they can't love someone of the same sex. Love is love, no matter how you look at it."
that's how I feel anyway. I'm a guy, and I'm pansexual. though I think it takes a certain type of person to be able to look past gender.
And besides the fact is, he loved him during high school, regardless of how he feels now, that love was still there, it may have changed but there's no reason he can't draw on that experience for inspiration.

Hey, you're right. Now I feel stupid for bringing it up at all :S
If what you said about Kishi and his best friend is true, all I can say is I hope they saved the friendship in the end, even if they didn't end up as lovers. If he lost that friend maybe that's the reason why he draws Naruto so "obsessed" over Sasuke coming back...
I also should have known (although I don't really understand) that even if you're heterosexual, you can still enjoy other pairings and draw about it, since it's all love anyway. Even if Kishi wasn't basing Naruto and Sasuke on his experiences, he could still make them canon without feeling that making them gay would 'ruin the series' because it WON'T!
...Although that would mean Naruto would have to mysteriously abandon his canon "love interest" Sakura. (Honestly, why does he like her?!? Why does Sakura like Sasuke, even?? I never figured that one out)

Kyoky-San In reply to NoranB [2013-03-17 16:09:28 +0000 UTC]
Don't you know he doesn't love her anymore? She tried to kill Sasuke and right before that happens tells Naruto she loves him. He knows she's lying and basically gives up on her right then and there.
It's kinda sad actually. But I hate that bitch...
and as far as I'm aware, Kishimoto's roots are more accepting than not. A lot of people from that generation actually tend to be that way because they were raised in such conservative views.

NoranB In reply to Kyoky-San [2013-03-18 11:45:55 +0000 UTC]
Well in my opinion Sasuke never loved Sakura (so there isn't an "anymore"). And I'm not too sure about Naruto giving up on Sakura, nothing is clear yet ^^ What I'm wondering is why they liked each other in the first place. Probably an immature crush thing though.
Come on, Sakura's not that bad in Shippuden! What she did was stupid but she was just trying to ease Naruto's burden and "save" Sasuke from falling into darkness.
Apparently Japanese media is less conservative about sexuality, like Sailor Moon had lesbian couples in it. I think Japanese people are more accepting for that reason?

They derive from Buddha, who believed that plan are already foretold, so you should accept everyone no matter what. That's why it's more accepted. Or so documentaries say. There are still instances (more common today after the spread of Christianity) that cause more distress for people who are homosexual.
But I've never liked Sakura. I don't really like any of the female characters in Naruto. Hinata's too shy, Ino's a bitch, Sakura's just mean to Naruto and that irritates me, TenTen isn't even really involved enough...
Kurenai is pretty much the only epic main female character.

Hmm can't say I agree with you. I guess it's true that they're generally not as developed as the guys. But!! Sakura's not mean to Naruto! You can see that she cares so much for him, and although she's constantly beating him up it's nothing serious. But yeah Hinata's too shy, but I don't really hate/blame her cos I'm kind of socially retarded as well. It's nice to see that she's improving a bit because of Naruto. ...Ino's just random.

Kyoky-San In reply to NoranB [2013-03-19 16:20:57 +0000 UTC]
I don't blame Hinata for being the way she is, that's what happened when you're the daughter of the head of a clan, you're treated like a princess and people avoid you.
but I've never liked Sakura's character.
I find flaws with most girls in anime/manga, either their too hard-ass or too shy. I need balance.

Kyoky-San In reply to NoranB [2013-03-20 16:24:33 +0000 UTC]
Oh I totally agree!!!
I read a variety of different Manga's and the girls in shoujo always tend to be more filled with ideas and thoughts and characteristics.
I think that shounen focuses a little much on the action and either the girl is so bad ass that she is annoying, or too helpless so she's annoying. It's when I find those balances that I really like Shounen.

NoranB In reply to Kyoky-San [2013-03-21 04:03:56 +0000 UTC]
I know what you mean. The guys in shoujo tend to be more complex as well, at least imo. Sometimes in shonen, they just have this one goal: "I must get stronger than him" or "I must protect my friends" or whatever, without clearly giving reasons why/showing how he became that way. This is not bad all the time I guess, it's still enjoyable but I wouldn't really be "into" it.

Kyoky-San In reply to NoranB [2013-03-21 16:10:35 +0000 UTC]
I feel that way too, it's crazy and kind of annoying sometimes. I think that's where there's a good line in Naruto. Naruto goes through the whole I have to get stronger.... Because I need to bring Sasuke home..."
So it's the rare one that actually ends up pwning ass.

Yeah, I guess that's why I love Naruto so much. The characters are awesome (except maybe Ino. I never really liked her much.) and there's so much development! It's interesting to see annoying and bratty children from chapter 1 become mature and strong ninjas over time~
