Woops - now that I paid a little more attention to the scene, I noticed a logical mistake: assuming that the light source in this place is the sun, the rays of light should come only from where the sun is, not from two opposite directions. Or, at the very least, the light from the opposite side should be much weaker...

Hahaha! This makes sense, in a way: the thing you feel most uncertain with might be the thing whose faults you can see and try to correct, thus reaching a higher lever of quality! 
Also, I've tried many times to create the same light effect and I' NEVER happy with it. Yours was the first thing I noticed in the picture because it closer to what I had in mind than any of my own drawings
