Description ‘You know what,’ Kiara said, frowning slightly, her perpetually cheerful grin gradually fading away – which was a rather bad omen, ‘I have always noticed that, though I have a lot of,’ she took a breath of air sufficient to last her through the upcoming list, ‘Nord friends, and Imperial friends, and Breton friends, and Redguard friends, and Orc friends, and Dunmer friends, and Bosmer friends, and Khajiit friends, and Argonian friends,’ she made a short pause and went on, ‘And also some Giant friends, and Hagraven friends, and Forsworn friends, and Daedra friends, and dragon friends, and even – sort of – several Falmer friends – I have very, very, very few Altmer friends. And you know why that is? Because even I,’ she drew herself up to her full height significantly, ‘the world-famous expert on making friends – and cookies, too, but that’s not important right now – can’t break through that horrinoxious wall made up of Altmer arrogance, and Altmer pride, and Altmer blind contempt, and loads and loads of more Altmer things that make you a bunch of stuck-up meanies who think they have the right to torture people and ruin their families and take away their gods just because they weren’t born with pointed ears and yellow skin! Well, I say…’
She went on and on and on, words flying out of her mouth faster than arrows out of a Wood Elf's quiver, stomping her foot every now and then, her eyes two blue thunderstorms. Ondolemar long since lost track of what she was trying to prove to him – some nonsense about the glory of Talos and about humans and other lesser races being entitled to the same privileges as the Altmer; he never could concentrate on things like that. He just gazed at her absently, watching her lips move and her face flush with emotion.
And then, when she had reached some climactic point of her shrill and confused oration, it hit him. The realization shot through him like an ice spike spell, so sudden and overwhelming that he almost gave himself away by crying out. But he managed to steady himself before Kiara noticed anything. He took a deep, placating breath and assumed the most haughtily frozen expression that years of practice allowed him to muster, inwardly mulling, bewildered and helpless, over his discovery.
So - it had happened. The thing that had disgusted him so much in old Calcelmo. The thing that under no condition could have blighted his own superior self. The thing he had considered, as a remote possibility, back at that wretched party at the Embassy, but instantly dismissed as the most preposterous idea that could ever have occurred to him with his impeccably brilliant mind clouded by alcohol. He was in love. Desperately, head-over-heels (what a repulsive human expression!) in love with that annoyingly cheerful, sickeningly friendly, ever-blundering imbecile, with that inferior being not worthy to lick the dust beneath his kin's boots, with that... with that...
His heart thrashed against his ribs like a caged beast. His head swam, blood throbbing in his ears, drowning out all other sounds. Petrified, suffocated, he felt that if he moved a single muscle he would burst into tears - so he struggled with all his might to keep his mask of icy calm, torn beneath it by the most violent emotions. He was enraged, and ashamed, and terrified at the thought that someone else - someone of his own kind, gods forbid! - might see, might realize how low he had fallen; and at the same time, he was overcome by a mixture of intense physical desire and passionate, heart-wringing fondness towards that insufferable excuse for a Dragonborn.
'Hey,' Kiara said suddenly, breaking off her ceaseless speech and peering suspiciously into Ondolemar's face, ‘You aren’t listening, are you? I thought as much. Never should have wasted my inborn gift of eloquence on you. You fellows are hopeless. Then again, everyone in this mess of a war is hopeless. Why all the sides don’t just live happily ever after, each minding its own business, is beyond me. Oh well, tiddle-pip! I have errands to run, and dragons to tame, and sweet-talks to eat, and Jarls to sweetroll – or was it the other way round? – and miles to go before I sleep’.
At that point he felt that he could not restrain himself any longer. With an incoherent, muffled cry he put his arms around her and pressed her tight against his chest, the warmth of her body enveloping him whole, rushing through his veins towards his frenzied heart.
'Kiara,' he whispered, his eyes half-closed, breathing in the smell of her hair, which resembled the fragrance of a sunlit forest, wondering vaguely how he could ever have made a point of never calling her anything but 'You there' and 'Hey, Redguard', when the very act of pronouncing her name made his mouth tingle with sweetness, 'Oh, Kiara, you little fool of a human...'

Darn you, Miguel de Unamuno, why do your passionate descriptions have to inspire me so much?!
Anyway, this fan art for TES V: Skyrim, featuring my newest Dovahkiin, Kiara, and Ondolemar of Markarth. I do realize it is terribly mushy and terribly OOC as far as Ondolemar goes, but whatever.
With the use of a screenshot from ETS V: Skyrim for the background and the lyrics from the Never Knew I Needed song from Disney's The Princess and the Frog movie.

I think the drawings are pretty good, but imo the texts ruin it. Images should be able to convey the feelings (this one could easily stand on its own), it's better if you put the text underneath it in the descriptions. It makes it too busy and it actually blocks parts of what you put effort in to paint/draw something.

It just so happens that fitting songs into fan art is a hobby of mine. Usually it fits the composition pretty well, but I suppose this picture would look better without the text.

Damn that Spanish literature! But Ondolemar? Seriously? The Thalmor agent as thick as marmite (and half as appealing)?

Still, people come up with strange matches; one of my characters from my Evernight story is the daughter of one of the other characters and Nocturnal...

This is cute though.

There was one particular bit in Abel Sanchez that positively electrified my brain.
The perception of NPCs subjective. I view some of the Thalmor as good 'moulding' material. The story of a bad guy being transformed by the girl he loves is as old as the hills, and I am as partial to it as anyone.

I couldn't agree more on the subjectivness of NPCs personalities, that's what makes the Elder Scrolls experience so rich and imaginative (and between you, me and anyone else who reads this; I'm a sucker for a good old fashioned love-conquers-all story too).

...but I still think Ondolemar could be outsmarted by a glass of milk!

I suppose I am rather careless with the characters' personalities when it comes to thinking of fanfiction.
When the Honoria Glossop in me started acting up I started looking for an eligible Thalmor to mould. . The rest is just taking a liberty while handling the material provided by Bethesda.

Lol. Don't get me wrong; I think what you've written is exactly how Ondolemar would feel if he fell for a 'mere human'. Besides taking liberties is partially what fan fiction is about .

P.S. I chuckled at the Jeeves and Wooster reference.

Incidentally, is Ondolemar one of the NPCs you can marry? That would seriously affect the way certain events in the Thalmor embassy would play out...

Nope, you can't marry the Thalmor. That would have been rather awkward, even in my book. Like marrying bandits or necromancers.

No wonder, since I've been reading Spanish literature recently.
Thank you for the appreciation and the favourite!
