It's literally a road built on top of a frozen lake. Very common in the arctic regions of Canada. With this pic I was just lucky enough to be in the passenger seat of the right truck on the right day. Sunrise to sunset was only two hours that day, so the odds were long against the photo.Β

Riding in a truck on a frozen lake... The colors of it are great

This is absolutely gorgeous. Do you mind if I ask what area this photo was taken?Β

It is beautiful but so harsh. Iβm back in civilization now, getting ready to head to Germany.

I audit their supply chain (how they get all of the equipment food and people to their remote site) to insure the costs are under control. Then I work on cost effective solutions to that end, and then present findings in Germany.. I will be in Munich in three days doing just that.
This is the travel I am hoping to cut out.

That is an amazing shot! With the crack down the center pointing almost to the "sun" (such as it is). I'm glad you got to see it though.

True. You'd have trouble catching the sun today.

Yeah I would have had to drive 85 mph on the ice since 6 AM and might be just about to bask in the warm glow of that big beautiful sun. There was incredible northern lights (Β aurora borealis) last night, and my damnable camera was dead. So angry at the time.Β

Oh man... I'm sorry your camera missed it! At least you got to bask in the moment though, that's awesome. Last evening we were driving "home" from the store and the sun was setting and shining that pinkish color on the clouds, but the clouds were really dense and had an overriding brown hue. And the roomie and I were both mildly panicking, it DID look distinctly like smoke, and we do have fires here, so we're all sniffing the air, and we can't smell anything, and we're going back and forth with is it or is it not fire? And I'm like: it could just be dust... i dunno.... Then finally we got around the hill and could see it was just clouds, no fires, and we were SO relieved! i was worried about the dogs being home alone! But it's all good. LOL

Living near the heart of The Boreal Forrest I have had quite a few close encounters of the forest fire kind, and I certainly can relate to that panic surrounding fires. Some scientists believe that the only instinctive fear that people are actually born with is the fear of fire, and I believe it. Well, except for the Pyros of course.

People don't realize how quickly fire can move. I have a healthy respect for it. Although, I would say we also have a healthy instinct toward things that violently wriggle: bugs, worms, animals that dart like vermin.

I have seen bugs to have more effect on grown adults (my dad turns into a 12 year old girl at the sight of a centipede lol) than on babies though. My little brother ate a worm when he was just over a year.Β

Well... in fairness, infants are barely self-aware anyway. They don't even realize they are independent beings until they're---what---two I think...?

northernfly In reply to LaurenIpsome [2017-12-22 19:24:10 +0000 UTC]
That's true, so then the quandary becomes 'can an entity with no self awareness feel fear'. There is a cedar tree in my alley which grew perfectly straight in one column for many years, but when it came within ten feet of an overhead powerline, it split its growth in two and each grew outward. My assumption is that the tree was fearful of the electrical fields emanating from the wire, and therefore avoided it.Β

That's very interesting. I wonder though, if it is "fear" or just the pall of energy. Sometimes, the roomie gets in one of her "moods," and I have to remind myself to "put up my shields" and re-direct her energy back at her. It's one of the reasons I can't tolerate crowds, I get overwhelmed. Like with Akido, you have to use someone else's energy against themselves, or just move it past you. It takes a lot of effort sometimes though. Although, my ex once said he tried to reach me when I had my shields up, and he said the magical back-lash was actually painful.

For someone so in tune I imagine it would be painful. I wish I had shields sometimes. Most oft I remain calm and even despite the vibes around me. My ex Megan (the Wicca) used to call me Even Steven from time to time.
Of course my temper goes off in the face of injustice or cruelty though. I had a juvenile record as a result, but eventually got better at not getting in trouble for the outbursts. General legal knowledge can be very helpful.
I am so fascinated by the connection you had with your ex in the past. I think because I could have that with Megan, but haven't figured out my end. Before things blew up for you, did he visit often. Β

Oh... I'm always cool on the outside, it's Vesuvius inside.
Mmm, I generally give back-handed remarks people don't know what to do with. It rarely escalates, people don't like being publicly shamed and tend to back down. It's all false bravado, trying to make themselves feel better by berating someone else. I have no tolerance for it.
Indeed he did. It was usually the other way around though, he suffered night terrors that I could "control" with a little effort. Although, when conversations got... "personal" he'd always say "how do you DO that?!" Of course I could "touch" him just as easily with cuddles from afar. If one is "open" to the connection, it can be both easy and intense.Β

THat sounds very much like the few 'instances' of what I suspect to be Megan's visit.Β
I am rarely grateful to be almost incapable of dreaming (my ocular syntosis leaves me in an almost constant state of R.E.M. so dreams are very rare), except when it comes to night terrors. They sound awful at the very least.
However every time I have dreamed in the last six years, I did have a very 'Megan' feeling. So, while all of my evidence is circumstantial, I feel it paints a picture of the truth somewhat. Β
Therefore that is such a kindly thing to do for someone.
It sounds SO intense. Β

Mhm, many a night I would fall asleep in his arms from afar. I have yet to cross an ocean, though, something about water, even though I'm a Pisces! LOL
"Witchcraft" is always circumstantial, like faith of any kind, it lacks "proof." Just depends on what you believe.
Indeed, I can be very "intense." It's not always a good thing, though. That sword cuts both ways.
