Description A retake on this old thing a creature design based on the mythological beast often featured on runestones. There's of course different interpretations of the serpent creature (and not everyone even agrees on that it should be called a lindworm) but I think it's interesting that there's still a few traits that seems to be pretty common nontheless and which clues in that it's not just a regular snake that's been depicted (on that note, the terms snake and dragon was often used interchangeably when referring to monstrous reptiles). First off is the big, prominent snout, sometimes with what looks like a mustache or, like in my interpretation here - a caruncle/snood. There's also these appendages on the head, sometime looking like ears or horns, sometime like a crown or curly antennas, which I turned into a crest to continue the poultry influence (a close relative to the basilisk perhaps?). I based the design of the body on the version of lindworm (lindorm) most common in Sweden in which it has front legs but no back legs and no wings (though it's also commonly depicted on runestones with no visible legs at all). I've also taken inspiration from some sources (post viking age) that describe the lindworm to have a cloven tail (also a common trait when depicted on runestones), a color like hot iron and a venomous bite.

Love the detail work on this piece.
Nice sense of movement and motion of the Lindworm as it wraps around the rune stone and the detailing on the stone itself is excellent.
Great colour and shading too.
