Yes, The Joker can cry. He kills everyone he meets and can't love anyone, especially himself. In the early morning he goes to sleep in Crime Alley where the only light is the bat signal.
This is The Joker I know. There have been better paintings of him but none have understood like you do.

I have a great fondness of the Joker. The character is amazing.. they did a good job of portraying him in the Dark Knight but it was only one side of him.

Joker is portrayed as little more than a flamboyant maniac when in reality he's the only character to have figured the universe out. Despite being a mass-murderer he performs like the ghost of a man who used to care about humanity. He's there to question what morality even means and proposes that if irrational cruelty and instinct is all we are maybe the kindest thing is extinction.
Ledger did a fine job with a character written (ironically) much too seriously; he had to out-act bad roles his whole career. I think Sammy Davis Jr. or Robert Downey Jr. are better examples of real life mercurial entertainers. They perform as though it's their last even with a heart wrapped in scars and at their weakest, wrought in cynicism and despair, lies a character like Joker.
... It's rare that people think about villains that way. I think you deserve every bit of the compliments you receive.

The praise for Alan Moore just highlights the problems now. Where's the Watchmen for this generation? Where's the Moore's? No one can answer that because bad industry practices are storyteller cyanide and in the pocket of the film & television industry comic books are all but dead.

Thats what I was aiming at. Ceasar Romero's verison is a classic and I've always been a fan, but Ledger took the character to different areas. I tried to do a tap of both of them in ways ^.^
