  His whole life, Kenma was able to ignore the numbers on his wrist. However, lately, the numbers have been so low that he couldn't fight the anxiety. He didn't really like people to begin with, so who thought it was a good idea to match him with someone for eternity? He tried to play games to distract himself, but his eyes keep jumping back to the ticking clock. Every time, he would watch a few seconds tic by and his chest constricts in fear even more.

Just thinking about it makes his breath short. Some may think this happened in excitement, but the nauseating feeling in his stomach tells him otherwise. Kenma puts up his PSP and curls into a restless sleep. He had decided.

Kenma wasn't going to leave the house tomorrow.

Kenma is still adamant about his plan. So far, he hadn't left the house. Not that it was really that big a challenge for him. The only thing that would drag him outside would be Kuroo, and Kenma told him that he was sick so he wouldn't come to force him out. Kenma had thought this through.

  He only has half an hour left before he no longer had a soulmate to worry about. Some might say he was wasting the opportunity to meet someone he would love his entire life, but he didn't see it that way. He never understood soulmates, so he isn't too worried about losing his. Maybe he's just pessimistic.

Deciding it's time for lunch, Kenma pauses his game. Making his way into his kitchen, his cat passes through his legs. He reaches down to pat his head quickly before preparing lunch. Once his simple sandwich was made, he fills his cat's bowl. He eats in silence at the kitchen counter. The familiar sound of the cat door creaks, which Kenma hardly takes note of. He finishes his sandwich and doesn't bother moving from the stool at the kitchen island before returning to his game. As he's playing, his eyes creep to his timer once again.

He shivers at how close it was. Looking back at the game, his character had died once again. Giving a small huff, he goes to press 'Try Again'.

Meow.

A cat jumps on the kitchen counter. Rubbing its chin on Kenma's PSP, it purrs contentedly. Kenma's eyes widen. This was not his cat.

  Where had this cat come from?

  Carefully, Kenma rubs the cat's chin. The cat gladly accepts the affection, coming closer to him. What a cute cat... He hums as the cat flops onto its side. It purrs loudly, eyes closed in pure satisfaction.

"Unmei," you call in a hushed whisper. Your cat had ran off for the umpteenth time. You followed her this far, but she was now out of sight. She had led you nearly three blocks away. You currently stand in the backyard of a quaint house. You didn't want them to think you were trespassing, so you pray Unmei would find you on her own accord. Soon. Searching for any signs of her, your breath catches in your throat. Your face drains of all color as you spot the cat door on the house's back door. She didn't...

Please don't be home, please don't be home... You plead for no one to be in the house. You kneel down by the door, peaking in through the cat door.

A timer goes off in the back of your mind the second you lock with amber eyes. His wide eyes stare back into yours from his kitchen island. Your face flushes immediately. Unmei meows happily at your sudden appearance. You could only imagine how weird you look right now; in front of your soulmate nonetheless.

"I- I can explain!" you yelp, almost feeling a frantic explanation coming up your throat. "My cat- My cat had ran off, and I was looking for her, and she led me here, and I really didn't want to look, but it was the only place that made sense, and she's definitely the kind of cat to just come into someone's house, I swear I'm not a creep trying to break into your house! I just want my cat-"

"It's fine... She's... She's right here," the boy replies quietly, "You can let yourself in. The door's unlocked."

"Oh..." You rise, letting yourself in. You awkwardly shut the door behind you and shuffle your feet. Unmei reluctantly leaves the boy, jumping off the counter and swirling around your feet. "She, uh, she must like you. She isn't usually that cuddly," you awkwardly try to break the ice, gesturing to your cat. He shifts his eyes from you to your cat and back to you.

"Ah." And the silence returns. You couldn't take it. He couldn't either based on his rugged posture.

"So... do you usually do this?" You gesture around the room again. "Let random strangers into your house?" You're only slightly joking.

He clears his throat. "Well, um, you are my soulmate."

"I guess you're right..." you reply with a growing grin.

He didn't know why, but Kenma felt a familiar, but different nervous feeling in the pit of his stomach.

"Kenma? I felt bad leaving you alone all day while you were sick, so I- Who the fuck is this?"

Kuroo could hardly take in the sight in front of him. A girl sat next to Kenma on the couch, a movie lighting the dark room. Not only was there a GIRL, but Kenma was comfortably SNUGGLED AGAINST HER. When did this happen and why wasn't he told immediately?

"Oh. Hi. This is my soulmate, (Y/N)," Kenma explains coolly. He doesn't even bother to look away from the screen. Kuroo stares between you and Kenma with an intense gaze.

"Soul...mate..?"

Kenma hums, confirming the question.

"You met... how long ago..?"

Kenma ponders for a moment, checking the time on his phone. It was currently 9. You would have to get home soon. He was surprised by the fact he didn't want you to leave. "About 5 hours ago."

Kuroo remains utterly silent for a moment. Kenma ignores him, stuffing his phone back in his pocket before snuggling into you even more. He nuzzles his nose into the crook of your neck, and closes his eyes. Kuroo couldn't believe this. Five... five hours ago. And Kenma didn't even think of telling him.
