Description
The Twelve-Legged salamander is one of Terrevanimus's more....rare creatures. It lives deep in the glowing caverns, and only comes to the surface once every three months to eat it's fill of insects and other small creatures. They are called "salamanders" because they have a similar trait - they can grow back severed limbs. Plus they walk much in the way that a salamander swims, weaving back and forth like a snake. The "mask" on their head is actually a shell made of keratin, and protects them from injury if any stalagmites fall from the roof of their caves. They can make their eyes glow brightly, but this isn't to help them see. If a predator comes around, a salamander can make its eyes glow to make it seem bigger, and the glow is so bright that it startles the predator, allowing the salamander to escape. Salamanders also communicate using flashes of their eyes, much like morse code. The fur on the tip of a salamander's tail acts as a counterbalance to help the salamander move quickly without being unstable. Only male salamanders have the large feathers on their backs.
