Description
This is Eima an OC of mine for one of my Dragon Age related fanfics. She is an ancient Dalish Elf who is re-awakened and has no memory of her time. She is also referred to as a "Spirit Taker".

This is also a huge colouring practice for me. Hope I can settle on a style soon.

Elgarbora in uthenera na revas...

I'm here...

Someone was chanting the Elgarbora'then, but it was wrong. The words were ill spoken, tumbling forth from a tongue unacquainted with their meaning. Despite this, Eima had awoken. She stirred, awareness seeping through her skin. How long had she slept within the Uthenera'an? Opening her eyes proved too painful. Her body felt terribly cold. She was no longer encased in the Elgarmelana'en.

"She's alive. Somehow..."

Ariane had accompanied the Warden Ardinal in search of the Elgarbora'n. She had thought it to be some sort of amulet or talisman, never considering it to be a person, let alone an elf; and strange elf at that. The woman they had raised from a glowing pool of water was like no elf Ariane had ever seen. Her ears were much longer than they should be. Her eyes, which had opened briefly, were large even by elven standards. Vallaslin adorned her skin, unrecognisable shapes and writings long forgotten. Her clothing was foreign; old. It was obvious that the elf was not of their time.

"I don't think she's a demon. No boasting, nor any bargaining thus far." Ardinal said.

She too had expected an ancient amulet of some kind. In her experience most ancient things of power were some ring or trinket, guarded by dragons or spirits and all manner of horrible things. They had found the Eilgarbora'n by deciphering ancient Tomes and surprisingly only a handful of re-animated corpses had stood in their way.

Slowly, the women came into focus, and Eima regarded them warily. They were elves yes, but not of her people. The memory of a fated task broke upon her mind. Fractured images emerged of faces she could no longer recognise, places she no longer knew the names for. Finally the feeling that she had made a promise dawned, to whom or for what she had pledged she did not know. This caused her great distress; reaching out she took Ardinal by the hand.

"It's alright." Ardinal attempted to console her.

Eima's eyes quickly conveyed that she was unable to understand and thus Ardinal suggested that Ariane should translate for her. Ardinal was an elf of the city, and had shown little to no interest in learning Dalish.

Andaran atish'an hahren. We mean you no harm. I am Ariane. This is Ardinal.

Eima let out a whimper as she attempted to speak. Words came eventually and she whispered Dalish as it was spoken in centuries past. Ariane found Eima's pronunciation mesmerising as if every word was gilded. She was certain now that the woman before them was an elven ancestor, truly "one of the people".

"What did she say?" Ardinal looked to Ariane who was obviously in awe of their "Elgarbora'n".

"She said hello, I am Eima. May I please have some water?" she answered with a grin.
