If you follow some of my journal, you are probably already aware of this but since they was some pretty big progress in model asset production recently, I think it's the perfect moment to put this info in a proper asset sneak peek entry.
I'm now officialy in partnership with a chinesse modding team, the Yaodu Team, the Yaodu Team is mostly know for their modding work on sci-fi game like Homeworld and they granted me a private access to their asset with a permission to use and edit them to my need and so, all the models you see here are from them, fully or partialy retextured to my need.
Sadly I'm not allowed to release these model to the public, I still trying to get at least an authorization to proceed on a privat release for the most thrusted others Sonic SFM animator.
Except the corvette, all the others ships here are still in WIP but mostly done.

- Retexturing and original texture enhancement (emissive map, specular map, normal map added) by myself.
One of the ships look more "rusty" than the others, for reason :3

Thats a rip off of the Battleship Andromeda from Space Battleship Yamato my buddy..rip off?..well 95% too inspirated to it honestly, but still nice since the Blue Typhoon is Sonic's Yamato.

Yep I know, which is why I am using those model for now, it might change in the futur depending of my ressource.
But what I can confirm already is that the Sol Empire skyship will be 100% original design with a bit of inspiration taken from the resistance skyship from FF 12, I curently have people working on those models.

Holy crap, that is one awesome job! If there's one thing that's so awesome about Sonic, it's the flying Battleships! You're work on it is superb!

Well, what is the overall plot going to be about, how will this tie into the regular Sonic series (or is it an AU), who are the main enemies, and will it bring any new concepts that I don't already know. Also, any new characters joining the heroes?

SunChild take place right after 06 and its time reboot, right after the end of Silver story ark to be more precise.
"Chaos Rift" appear everywhere on the planet, they act like a singularity, breaking completely the space and time around their area of influence.
At the end of Silver ark in 06, Blaze "return" into the Sol Zone, she is one of the fews to not have been affected by the time reboot (because she was in another dimmension during the reboot) and so she still have a full memory of the event, the Sol Emeralds spirit inform her that the Chaos Rift on earth might be a conssequence of the destruction of Solaris and that those Rift could spread like a cancer which might affect the Sol zone at the end, she is send on Earth to investigate and stop those Rift.
The primary goal of SunChild is to be a link between Sonic 06 and Sonic Rush, as well as to explain why and how Blaze was in the bad timeline of Silver.
Yes their will be new character but only for minor role, I can't tell for the main enemy for spoiler reason.

Wow, someone who didn't completely despise Sonic 06, like me, and prefers Sonic taking this sort of route! I like how you do this! I myself happen to be a similar Sonic Fan, prefering stuff like Sonic X, Sonic Unleashed, etc. I didn't think 06 ws perfect, but I myself do not approve of the Boom/Lost World stuff for Sonic! We need more actually engaging and awesome stuff in Sonic.
Your idea for the continuation is very interesting, sort of reminds me of Chrono Cross, and how that game tied into Chrono Trigger with what happened after the Eldritch Abomination known as Lavos was defeated, and with all the time travel stuff, that in Chrono Cross afterwards erupted into Time and Space warping dimensional stuff after Lavos' defeat. I find it similar, thought not exactly the same. Were you inspired at all by that?
I understand if you don't want to reveal too much. What role is Eggman going to have in this one, if any? Also, will Shadow be appearing?
I could offer ideas for other Bosses, or such, if you need some help.

I have no direct inspiration in mind for the plot, or at least nothing intentionnal, but for the character writting yep I have some inspiration, mostly Ergo Proxy and Kara no Kyoukay.
In short for Eggman, he plan to use the Chaos Emerald power in order to try to protect his territory against the Chaos Rift, the G.U.N. obviously have the exact same idea, both already have one Chaos emerald, and both want the emerald of the other, which will lead to a clash between the 2 faction.
Shadow will be in "research and secure" operation, send by the G.U.N. to seek more emeralds, his statut will be "unknow" during most of the series and will be visible during in fact only 1 episode, Rouge will have a far more prominent role since she has been promoted leader of her own G.U.N. squad, the MYST Team, her squad will have a side story completely linked to the main plot.
