Secret Origins: A former ex-con and blue collar criminal, Daniel West is the brother of Iris West and the father of Wally West. Daniel was Iris' stranged brother in many ways, where one zigged the other zagged, where Iris succeeded Daniel falled onto a life riddled with failures and bad calls, eventually causing his relationship with his family to become distant, falling onto the life of criminality.
After a 5 years penance on the Iron Heights penitentiary, Daniel decided to enmend things with his family, however time couldn't had been worst for him as not so after he left prison, a incident happened on Central City, an incident caused by the Flash and the Reverse Flash, creating a surge in energy that gave people super-speed, including himself. However, instead of gaining instant super-speed, Daniel got sucked into the what can only be known as the ''Speed Force'' for months.
The Darkness: For what it seemed just mere months on his Earth, it were years for Daniel, such that eventually after so much time trapped inside the Speed Force and seeing what he could had become through it by seeing most of the new speedsters created by the surge of energy, Daniel snapped.
Eventually Daniel figured a way to get out of the Speed Force via another person inside it, Max Mercury, kepping him prisioner and even stealing some of his speed. Now out of the Speed Force, Daniel decided to become the only speedster alive, THE Fastest Man Alive, taking on the moniker of Zoom and becoming what can be only known as a ''speedster-serial killer'', going arround most of Central City and taking out sistematically each new speedster created by the surge of energy, eventually catching up to whom he considered the winning prizes, The Flash aka Barry Allen, his sister's husband, and his son Wally, now the Flash's partner Impulse/Kid Flash.
However, once he confronted the both of them, Daniel realized that the best way to take the Flash's speed was to have him in a false sense of security, thus pretending to be both the hero and the villain at the same time, taking on part of Max's name as Mercury and becoming a part of Barry's inner circle.
The Race of His Life: Eventually as time passed, Barry's crew catched up to Daniel's real agenda which was to take the speed of every Speedster on the multiverse by using stolen technology to create what could only be known as a ''dimensional-gate''
However, Daniel saw himself as some kind of benevolent and generous ''god'', thus giving Barry an chance at defeating him on a race, as of to see who really was the Fastest Man Alive.
During the battle however, Daniel's speed started to degenerate, causing his ''Speed Force-Lightning'' to change colors, almost instantly causing him to grow tired and cause his legs to shut down, turning him paraplegic.
After the battle, Daniel was throwed back into Iron Heights however, it seemed to be that his healing factor had started to kick in and cause his legs to work yet again, however it was diagnosted that he seemed to have generated a disease out of draining Speed Force energy, which would cause him to generate the same symptoms as that of Cancer every time he used his speed alongside losing the abilty to use his legs.
