Concrete-Pathways

Basics
Name: Laurence
Gender: Female
Age: 4 years
Breed: Wolf Dog Hybrid
Pack or loner?: Bonded
Rank: N/A

Bonded Group: Poppy fav.me/dbl427k
Appearance:
Dark gray with light gray circles down the front of her face and up her ears. Left eye is light green, right eye is light blue. Has a scar that reaches across the nape of her neck. Her paw pads are a light gray. She is around 3 1/2 feet tall (head to toe) and 5 feet long (chest to tail tip), fairly large for her breed.

Personality:
Laurence is a somewhat mute. She prefers to keep to herself and stay away from others besides those close to her. She is a very clever creature, and uses this to her advantage when faced with potential enemies, preferring to keep to the shadows rather than face them head on. When it comes to close friends Laurence is very kind and can be caring at times though it may not seem the most visible, but when it comes to strangers she can be very cold and untrusting. Laurence can be a bit of a stiff sometimes. She doesn't understand emotions the best and at times can send the wrong message to her companions. This leads her to think they don't care for her when really they don't even know how she feels. She does have a sense of justice but won't run head in to a losing battle. Laurence can be stubborn sometimes as she prefers to do her own thing as she trusts her judgment the most and doesn't trust easily.

History
Laurence was born to Tallah and Flin. Her mother was a dog and her father a wolf. They cared and loved her. Doing their best to keep her alive as she was their only pup. Taking turns watching and hunting. After around a year she began learning to hunt and take care of herself, going out to hunt with her parents and learning how to survive in the world. Her first prey was a small squirriel. Laurence lavished in her parents praise. This life, while tough, was amazing to her.

But it didn't last.

One day, when she and her parents were returning from their recent hunting trip they were attacked by a large group of small dogs or "Sick Ones". They quickly swarmed the area. Laurence had heard of them and seen the remnants every now and then of them but had never expected anything like this. While her parents fought Laurence hid, believing her parents could handle it. They were strong and powerful, they could do it!

But as the fight continued it was easily a losing battle. More and more of the small dogs swarmed the area, tearing, ripping and yelping as they came closer to victory. Laurence could only make eye contact with her father, eyes wide and terrified. It hit her that this was it. Her parents weren't the guardians she had though they were, they couldn't win this time. She lost it, her heart felt like it was shredded to pieces as Laurence ran. She could never win that battle. If her parents couldn't do it then how could she! So she ran.

The dogs were too busy with her parents to notice her passage so she was mostly left alone. She ran, mile on mile until she couldn't anymore. Her paws felt slick with sweat and blood from small cuts she'd gotten in her paws. Laurence tried to find a hiding place to rest. Tired and in shock she didn't know what to do. She merely survived, avoiding the Sick Ones, hunting when she could and mostly staying away from other dogs. She started hardening herself. Knowing when she couldn't win a battle and when she should intervene.  She later heard rumors of her parents death and even some assumptions of her own. She ignored it on the most part not wanting to think of her parents being ripped apart.

Later on, around almost a year after her parents death she was nearly killed by a saint bernand that decided it wanted the prey she had caught. It had been a slow week and went against her better judgement of running. The beast of a dog had much more experience than her and had easily taken her down, dragging a long clawed paw over the back of her neck. They took the prey afterwards assuming she'd die from the blood loss and if not from that then see it as a warning. This left a scar on the nape of her neck and quickly reminded her of not taking such risks or risk losing her life.

Laurence has lived like this for most her life so far. Surviving, hunting, even gaining a small reputation from other dogs as she gained more strength. Then one day she stumbled upon a small dog that seemed passed out and in very poor condition. It reminded her slightly of her own experience after her parents passing. Taking pity on the small dog, Laurence brought her to one of her hideouts. Later on, when the dog awoke, she learned her name was Poppy, though she didn't explain much else. Laurence understood so she didn't do much digging into her story.

Afterwards, when Poppy was well enough to be on her own Laurence asked her to leave. She had already wasted energy finding food for the both of them and preferred to go back to her solitary life. But the small dog didn't wish to leave. Laurence was not going to be a parent to her but after much begging she let Poppy stay under the condition that she be able to pull her own weight. This has resulted in a comfortable bond between the two. Relying on each other with Laurence's large size and intimidation and Poppy's small stature and speed.
