Obrigado mue amigo... I try my hardest to capture the moment before, the moment itself, and the moment after... even if it is only a split second for all three.

Was my Portuguese correct? - I didn't refer to my notes...

I know this is right: Beijos Walter!

You have a deep love for nature Cindy, I can feel that in the way that you express yourself, keep up the good work and I hope that the sun shon for your reunion today. I find the best time for butterfly pics is definitely early morning when they're warming their wing muscles in the sun..................

Weather still not very cooperative, but I did get a few pics this morning. No bugs out - no butterflies either - and hardly a bee! It was wet and yucky - I think all the little creatures were tucked in bed sleeping (where I shoulda been!)

Thanks for the kind words - I do love nature...

Well, it is a Pipevine Swallowtail - I got help from *MagePrydain in researching it. She is a beautiful butterfly indeed -- thanks for the kind words!

Beautiful! I won't grab a field guide this time...I'l just enjoy...I, by the way, did not see any problem with your avatar, so I wouldn't worry too much, but there is someone who has a similar screen name (I think without the hyphen) that I accidentally ran across when I mistyped in entering stuff once... maybe something like that is what happened to the other person.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

now-voyager In reply to ParadigmParadox [2007-03-19 16:22:03 +0000 UTC]

Thanks - but a friend sent me screen shots and there is something wrong with the way my avatar shows on my account. I'll report it and let dA handle it - no big.

And the butterfly.. I have updated info and I'll be adjusting the description today. She's a beaut, eh?

Hello Cindy!

OK... after extensive research of my files and online sites (20 minutes) I admit my initial doubt of this being a swallowtail was unfounded. It is however definately a Pipevine Swallowtail (Battus philenor). Authenticating links follow:

now-voyager In reply to David-A-Wagner [2007-03-18 19:51:29 +0000 UTC]

Thanks - checked out all the links and this does indeed look like a Pipevine. I just uploaded another shot [link] - one with the top of the wings fully visible. The coloring on mine seems a bit different from all the ones I saw in the links you sent, but perhaps it is the lighting, or perhaps the age of the butterfly. So - do you think this is a male then?

Also - got your note and will send info.

Note?

Last note I sent was about the false garlic, and you answered that..... maybe was an old one you had missed, but then my message center isn't overflowing as I'm sure yours is.

HA! I'm such a dope! You are right - I am having a bit of trouble keeping up with my inbox. The note I was referring to was from a friend who said my avatar is different on my front page than on the rest of my pages and he wondered why... What do you see? Is my avatar the same on every page?

And sorry for the confusion - I am a bit overwhelmed at the moment...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

David-A-Wagner In reply to now-voyager [2007-03-19 00:08:28 +0000 UTC]

From what I see your avatar is the same everywhere except for in my deviantwatch.... when you submit new deviations the santa hat avatar appears with it.
Made me shake my head a few times but wrote it off as another dA bug.... or your friend who didn't want you to change it too clark.

Different friend - but I am confused as to why it should look this way. Will investigate this tomorrow - tired tonight.

David-A-Wagner In reply to now-voyager [2007-03-18 21:14:36 +0000 UTC]

definitely the pipevine swallowtail... female, based on the markings shown at the 4th link in previous note compared to your other view. Slight coloration difference is just lighting.
