Description I did the staff design some months ago and yesterday I decided to add the constellations on the map, finish the whole stuff and present it. Well, I'm not entirely satisfied by the design but I'm rather interested to know what can be thought of the content, lore-wise. On that point I'm rather satisfied with what I came up with, I think the placement of the various gods and Daedra is rather appropriate. I placed Magnus close to Meridia due to their relation, Masser close to Mara for it is also Mara's Tear, and Secunda as Stendarr's Sorrow. I think Sanguine fits perfectly close to the Lover constellation (so does Mephala, somewhat), and Dagon who's close to both the Apprentice and the Warrior... Well, I'm not gonna explain all my choices but don't hestitate to tell me what you think

And Sithis is not on the map of course since it's the void, and same for the Serpent. Lorkhan is on the map but doesn't need to be named since he's currently dead and way present enough. The dots on the N of Nirn are... well, I let you guess if you haven't.

heck if I remember... xD I think the proximity with the Lady had more to do with Kynareth and Mara, and then Hircine happened to fit well enough close to Kynareth, so this happened

I think i have a solution. starting at the twelve o'clock position going clockwise, list: Arkay (12), Kynareth, Akatosh (3), Dibella, Mara (6), Zenithar, Stendarr (9), Julianos. That way, they all connect together.

noxfoxArts In reply to Reav0 [2015-10-05 09:21:32 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for the long delay, I've been out of dA for quite some time
Looking at the map again, the initial connections I had chosen was to place the Divines closer to the Daedra with which they could have some sort of "affinity", even if it's more like mirrored opposite sometimes, or the light and dark side of a same coin.

Arkay is surrounded by Vaermina (little death of sleep, Dreamsleeve...), Nocturnal (primitive Night) and Namira (decay).

Stendarr is surrounded by Namira (repulsion, disease, beggars, fate of those who gave too much and ended abused), Sheogorath (foolish aspect of mercy) and Sanguine (generosity, abundance).

Dibella is surrounded by Sanguine (hedonism, expense), Mephala (sexuality, crudeness, dangerosity) and Peryite (disease, delusion).

Julianos is surrounded by Peryite (method, academisim, focus on the small things without seeing the big picture), Hermaeus Mora (knowledge gathering, compulsion) and Molag Bal (vile ignorance, pride, domination, power).

Zenithar is surrounded by Molag Bal (scam, pillage, robbery, financial enslavement), Clavicus Vile (trades, fooling over the price) and Boethiah (mastery... this one is weaker, really, I considered switching with Dagon who is an actual crafter but wanted Dagon to align with the Warrior).

Akatosh is surrounded by Boethiah (power, leadership, temper), Dagon (revolution, destruction) and Malacath (helplessness, struggle, mortality).

Kynareth is surrounded by Malacath (primal, endurance, survival), Meridia (daylight, fierceness) and Hircine (wilds, nature).

Mara is surrounded by Hircine (instincts, procreation, protection), Azura (pretence, projection, denial of one's nature, living the dream) and Vaermina (fears... again, not the best match).

And gods are interconnected as well: Arkay, Julianos and Akatosh are the Guardians of Thief, Mage and Warrior, and for the rest... lots could be said as well xD

Keseko In reply to noxfoxArts [2014-04-18 22:13:51 +0000 UTC]

But Jyggalag and Sheogorath are two separate beings now. The Hero of Kvatch freed Jyggalag of his curse and replaced him as the Prince of Madness, allowing Jyggalag to roam his own realm as a free Daedra.

noxfoxArts In reply to Keseko [2014-04-20 10:23:53 +0000 UTC]

The map predates such an event, but even so, on a theological point of view, Jyggalag without control of the Shivering Isles is a Daedra without a dominion, and so a lesser spirit without influence. He could go serve in the Pits of Peryite for all we care. I have a headcanon in which this happens

Yolkiin [2014-02-07 17:10:53 +0000 UTC]

I really like although I do not understand Nocturnal's connection to Arkay. I see that death is a mistery and Nocturnal's entire existance revolves around that, but still I can't really conenct the two of them. I always thought of Nocturnal as something cut off, hidden from everyone's sight.

I understande her connection to Azura and Sheogorath, but Arkay I don't really see

noxfoxArts In reply to Yolkiin [2014-02-10 20:24:10 +0000 UTC]

Arkay is the cosmic guardian of the Thief, and Nocturnal is a patron to thieves... It's a bit light I guess, but it wasn't easy to find fitting positions for everybody

I like it. I do have one problem with it though - The planets are part of Mundus while the planes of Oblivion are not, I would've put the planes of Oblivion beyond the Aedra if I was you. Other than that, awesome.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

noxfoxArts In reply to Koloszrodos [2013-11-06 15:50:21 +0000 UTC]

I would disagree on the idea of planets being part of Mundus. They seem pinned on the veil of Oblivion, but the sky is an illusion caused by mental stress.

"The planets are the gods and the planes of the gods, which is the same thing. That they appear as spherical heavenly bodies is a visual phenomena caused by mortal mental stress. Since each plane(t) is an infinite mass of infinite size, as yet surrounded by the Void of Oblivion, the mortal eye registers them as bubbles within a space."

However, though it is not indicated, the planets on the map are indeed supposed to be surrounded by the Void, as Sithis. But as it is the Void, I preferred to mention it by its absence.

BlackHeathland [2013-10-18 12:44:26 +0000 UTC]

Interesting theory about the structure of the universe Mundus.
But I always thought that he (schematically) looks more like a donut or a wheel with spokes: given that almost one view must be seen as the mortal world and the worlds of Aedra and daedra.
The principle is as follows:

1) Inside is the Oblivion - a void filled daedrami. There they sozdoyut their worlds and animals in his immortal plane.
2) Around Oblivion is Nirn - with all mortal creatures, land and moons.

3) A complete this "donut" Filling the void aedrami. But since they have given on the part of himself that would create the world of mortals, from each of them are unique in Nirn thread ....
And in the end it turns out that something like a conventional wheel with spokes inside

P.S. I think that I can even draw a picture is worth, I think will not look bad.

"The dots on the N of Nirn are... well, I let you guess if you haven't."
They are the Towers. You forgot the Adamantine, or the Ur-Tower, and the Green-Sap Tower.

Neci work, though.

noxfoxArts In reply to PhoenixNeko1 [2013-07-17 08:07:27 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!

I put the Adamantine top left, the Crystal-Like-Law down left, White-Gold in the middle and Red Stone top right. The Green-Sap, I must admit that I didn't care for it. Hists are too mysterious even after all those millenia, to include lore based on just one word. I prefer to ignore topics we are not so knowledgeable about --unless I've thoroughly monkeytruthed them, which is not the case for sap lore. I find the Hists intriguing, interesting, I feel I could delve in their lore pretty well, but... there's just too little of it to do so. Nearly everything yet needs to be imagined.

*goes back to necromantic researches*

"I put the Adamantine top left"
Oh, I see. I thought it's the Snow Throat. Then you forgot the Snow Throat

"The Green-Sap, I must admit that I didn't care for it. Hists are too mysterious even after all those millenia, to include lore based on just one word."
It's not the Hist Tower, 'cause all the Towers were made by different Aldmeri tribes. Green-Sap is the Falinesti of the Bosmer.

Very nice work, again. I'll recommend you maybe to try and write all the English names in Daedric to add more my-y-ystery

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

noxfoxArts In reply to PhoenixNeko1 [2013-07-18 21:52:56 +0000 UTC]

The Snow Throat would indeed be worth putting in, though I relate it more to men than mer, through Kyne and Shor.

And the Green-Sap...

This, this is the reason I must not read MK's texts at late hours and while debating on other lore topics at the same time. Now it all makes more sense XD

Thank you very much for pointing this out, it's hard to be fully knowledgeable on all topics of TES lore as it's just so deep and keeps on expanding.

I've thought of writing in Daedric but thought people woulnd't bother to translate XD but the next version I should make would probably be more mystic.

If you think of what are the spheres of Daedra and Divines you should see connections between them (such as Hermaeus and Julianos, Sanguine and Dibella, etc...). It's not like this map has a purpose or means to make any sense though xD ...well, I haven't written about Daedra and Divines yet.

Oh, yes, they're based on the Dwemer starmap. I aligned the circle of Divines and Daedra according to the position of Julianos, Akatosh and Arkay, who are the guardians of the Mage, the Warrior and the Thief

noxfoxArts In reply to PunkRoctorok [2013-06-27 08:01:50 +0000 UTC]

The Lunar Lorkhan tells the truth, the Dwemer would agree with it. Keening was forged out of Lorkhan's heart and shaped in the echo of the shadow of the moons. Also, Kyne had come to love Lorkhan and became the sky so she could lull the moons at night

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

noxfoxArts In reply to PunkRoctorok [2013-06-28 07:06:48 +0000 UTC]

It's an illustration of the moment when Akatosh returned to Tamriel in his flying rocket that became the Adamantine Tower, to convine with the other Aedra about Lorkhan's fate which resulted into ripping his heart and throwing it away. Kynareth holds the remains of Lorkhan's body and cries (her tears flow probably sunk a few continents in the process), the Magna Ge flee the world to return to Aetherius, Magnus has some issue because he's a little too large, Dawn is ending, Day is coming. And yes, I depicted the Creation as a giant mudcrab walking on Elder Scrolls out of time, that's to illustrate the godhead concept for everything is the dream of this god.

Who are the little creatures on top? and is that magnus on the top right? Why are their dreugh flying outside Mundus? and the big green fish thing? CONFUSED

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

noxfoxArts In reply to PunkRoctorok [2013-06-29 09:53:52 +0000 UTC]

Nocturnal and Azura (that I drew as her Khajiiti version, spiting a star-shaped fur ball XD) and Magnus is on the right yes. Dreughs are flying out of Mundus because Reasons, I mean, it felt cool and right to draw that and the green thing is Hermaeus Mora, had to put him out of time for a moment and close from Elder Scrolls.
