Late Campanian of the Cretaceous, 79 M.y.a, East North America in what is now Alabama, Appalachian continent.

A male Ichthyornis dispar‭ (24 cm long) is sitting at the shore, very close at the sea. That primitive sea bird feeds on small fish and crustaceans. It had been traveling long distances without resting in search of a mate in order to breed. Now he decided to rest in that peacefull shore before continuing his journey. But he wasn't aware about the dangers of the sea. A subadult Dyrosaurid at around 4.5 metres long is watching him and is on the attack. He is a male who has just left the safety of the rivers and now he is travelling in open waters in order to find and create his own harem. Now hunger has led him near to the shore and he has spotte his next meal. Unfortunately for him the bird was in a safe place and he jumped really quick. The bird noticed him and flew away. Now that crocodilomorph has to go and find a new meal-maybe a fish- and of course to keep his mind in order not to be meal himself.
