Well, I really tried to get this one up yesterday, but I just plain ran out of steam around 9:00 last night. I'd been up all night the previous night, and I'd been at all damn day. But I just hit this wall and had to get some sleep. Judging by how long it took me to finish it up this morning, I probably BARELY could've finished it by midnight. Which justifies my thinking last night: why keep forcing myself to run on fumes for the small handful of people that would've seen it in the remaining twenty minutes of Halloween?

So, I got myself a good night's sleep and finished it up this morning with a nice breakfast in me and all bright-eyed and bushy tailed.

I missed the last couple Halloweens, I can't remember why I didn't do one in 2014. Chances are I was just in a shit mood. Last year I really intended to get something up and got as far as the pencil stage, but I became horribly sick over Halloween and wound up spending the next couple days in the hospital being treated for sepsis, and while I was there I came down with a bitch of a flu, so even after I went home I was down for another week. >_< But I did end up using the ideas I had for that one on some of the pinup girls I've drawn this year, so you didn't totally miss out.

But enough of last year, we're on to THIS year. I've done angel and devil costumes before, and this time I had idea of drawing this kind of dark angel, dressed in black with raven wings (I considered bat wings, but that's not very angelic), and I really fell in love with the idea when I thought of giving her the platinum blonde hair (black would've been too on the nose, I think) and the black light halo. I especially love how the texture of her bodysuit came out there.

I originally intended to have a Chun-Li costume, but I went with Cammy because I think the outfit is cuter and I wanted to show someone of smaller stature. I deliberately made her a hair and eye color different to make it clear that this is not Cammy herself, it's a girl DRESSING as her.

And I had a hell of a time deciding on the third costume. I'm not sure what made me think of the skeleton, but I sold myself on the idea when I thought of having the skeleton part glow in the dark. That's when I had to do it. And as I was working on it, that's what I found really made her costume come together.

Just as a did a few years ago, for the background I simply went outside and took a picture of my front walk. It's pretty in line with the residential backgrounds I've drawn for other Halloweens, so I figured why not save myself a few hours. I took the photo this morning and it was kinda perfect because it's overcast outside so the sunlight was softer and didn't cast really obvious shadows, which enabled me to better change it from day to night. And by a happy coincidence, the groundskeepers hadn't been through in a few days so there was a nice amount of fallen leaves sort of scattered on the ground, saving me one more step.
