Tarak joins his aunt on the rock ledge eagerly. Before he could say anything, Vitani scoops up the cubs and hugs him tight.“So what does my favorite nephew want to hear?”
“Heh, I’m your only nephew!”
“…all the more reason for me to tell you the best stories!” Vitani said with a chuckle and slightly nervous smile.
Vitani knew that one day Tarak would need to know the truth - that in fact he wasn’t her real nephew - Hami was, her half-sister’s son. The adults have not told the cubs the truth about that yet, waiting the day they got older.
“Grandpa Simba said that before I was born, you and dad were from the outlands. What was that like? Dad never wants to talk about it…he said I’m too young.” Tarak asked.
“Oh boy…right for the big questions huh?” Vitani laughed.
