A BIG ISSUE, and THE ONE ISSUE THAT MAKES ME VERY VERY PISSED is art reposting.

What is art reposting ? Its basically taking someone else's creation that YOU HAD NO CONTRIBUTION AT ALL and posting it to your own blog/website ect. This is different from art stealing, which is actually claiming it to be your own. But the concept still falls on the same thing :

YOU TOOK SOMEONE ELSE'S ARTWORK, THAT YOU DID NOT MAKE, WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION, AND POSTED ON YOUR SITE/BLOG/PAGE.

Now, I understand some artists here are okay with Art Reposting. Then good for you. But I would advise you to click away from this page, because I've got A TON of rant below. Mainly, the comments some artists get from other artists when it comes to art reposting.

I wouldn't care if MY art was reposted, why are you making such a big deal out of this lol ?

Well now aren't you a special snowflake. So you're telling me, because YOU don't care about YOUR rights as an artist to YOUR creation, other people shouldn't as well, huh? Fine, YOU don't. So what ? Respect artists that DO, and take that sass mouth of yours somewhere else because I can assure you an artist that DOES see this as a big matter WILL NOT BE TAKING ANY SHIT FROM YOU.

If they didn't want it to be reposted, they shouldn't have posted it on the internet, where everybody could just steal like that.

Just exactly HOW IGNORANT are you ? If that were the case, then NO ARTIST on the internet would post ANY form of art ANYWHERE. Then YOU GUYS wouldn't have anything to browse through, nothing to look at, OHEY nothing to steal amirite ? GEE THAT REALLY SOLVES THE PROBLEM DOESN'T IT ? MAYBE ARTISTS SHOULDN'T BOTHER SHARING THEIR ART WITH THE EVERYBODY ELSE AND KEEP IT TO THEMSELVES ! YUP PROBLEM SOLVED INDEED.

DON'T BE FUCKING RUDE. You're bloody lucky that artist is even bothering to post that art on the website for you to view, FOR FREE I MIGHT ADD. If they wanted, they wouldn't allow it to be viewed for free. And the ONLY thing YOU get to see is a big ass watermark or just a small preview, and you would have to pay to see the real thing. There's a special place in hell for assholes like you. This shows that you do not respect the artist in any way at all.

Isn't reposting giving them exposure ? Isn't that what you'd want ?

First off, I call TOTAL BULLSHIT on this one. If there's anyone who's getting this so called "exposure" its YOU. NOT THE ARTIST. ESPECIALLY IF YOU DIDN'T CREDIT THEM FOR THE PIC. EVEN if you did, people browsing on dA never really read artist descriptions all the time, and simply click the fav button. I know, I do that too. The one's getting the favs ARE YOU. NOT THE ARTIST. The one who gets the comments first is YOU. NOT THE ARTIST. The one getting the always anticipated "feedback messages" is YOU. NOT. THE. ARTIST.

How would you feel like if someone took your artwork, that you spent maybe 5 hours, or maybe 5 days, OR MAYBE WEEKS OR MONTHS to complete ? ALL THAT HARDWORK, and somebody just decides to repost it on their blog ? AND WHOOP DEE DOO WHO GETS THE COMMENTS ? THAT PERSON DOES ! NOT YOU. MAYBE NOBODY COMMENTED ON YOURS BUT THEY COMMENTED AT THAT PERSON SAYING "THIS LOOKS REALLY AMAZING".

But I'm reposting it because I like their art. This is how I show my appreciation.

Understandable your reasons were good. But some artists DO NOT appreciate that. It only makes them angrier. You know how can you show PROPER appreciation to the artist ? Comment on their work. Give them feedback. Even if they don't reply, they DO read them. And every one of the comments matters to them. Every fav that you give to them matters. It matters to artists, to know that people like their art. But reposting is NOT the way. It shows that you do not respect them. If you respect them, you'll agree to take the reposted art down if they request you to do so.

They're already famous. It wouldn't matter if I reposted their art anyway.

If thats the case, then WHY ON EARTH are you EVEN BOTHERING to repost their artwork anyway ? WHAT, PRAY TELL, IS YOUR REASON TO EVEN REPOST THAT ARTWORK IN THE FIRST PLACE ? Every artist will never understand if they're famous or not. You may think that they're popular, but to them, they are just normal human beings. They worked from scratch. THEY WORKED HARD. ON EVERY PIECE THEY MAKE. Don't tell them to just "Deal with it" regarding the fact that they're "famous". THEY WON'T.
