There is a pterosaur genus called Pterodactylus which fed exactly like that.

I know of them but didn't know about how they fed, thanks for sharing that. It is all really interesting, herons always remind me of them.

Yeah they do it quite a lot when they are sucking up whatever it is they are eating, meant to be lots of tiny bugs etc
