Thanks very much, the green is a field that was in background. The lens creates that kind of effect. I've never edited a pic in that way, dont do much editing apart from cropping and sometimes sharpening a bit.

Oh that is great I always wondered how people did that with a camera. So tell me how would anyone do it that has a different camera I am asking for a friend

There are a lot of different factors and I am not the best technically. You can get effects like that by lowering the aperture on camera, this means only part of pic will be in focus. I only use the centre focusing point, everything in front and behind the bird will then be out of focus. You can kind of see it on that pic of sanderling I just put up. It is like a corridor of light around the bird I suppose. I am really not the best to explain though

I couldn't believe it when he landed on the fence near, he stayed for a while also. They are really beautiful!
