Fun Information Fact:
☼ Gets together with her sister and mother every couple of days to spend time together. They call it 'important' family bonding, it's mostly prompted by their Mother, Wisteria.
☼ Has good sense of direction and intuition, it's just whether or not she'll listen to herself that really makes the difference. Sort of like a 'gut' feeling.
☼ Loves the rain, because she associates it with her own name. When it's raining, she won't hesitate to volunteer to patrol or pitch in somewhere outside.
↠ Backstory ↞
Kithood
When Rain's mother, Wisteria, was pregnant, she'd often make trips to the farm. Call it impulsive, but she loved the what pickings the place had to offer. Despite her mate's protests, she never stopped going. And inevitably, fell to her own carelessness. She went into labor while at the farm, and by sheer dumb luck, managed to find somewhere to hide. It was a sewage drain, emitting a rotten smell. Wisteria had hoped it would hide her scent, and the scent of the oncoming kits. While the smell did end up masking her scent from predators, it ended up also masking her scent from her warren-mates. When Wisteria gave birth to four kits, they were far from the safety of the dens in the hills. Wisteria hoped her mate, or a patrol, would find her. But as three days past by too quickly, she realized they would not find her. The death of an unnamed male kit, prompted her to get up. It was up to her to find them, and hope that her kits survived. The three remaining kits, all female, were relying on her. Wisteria however, could not carry all three kits. She picked up two, the strongest of the three, and set out to go home. She hoped nothing would happen the third, a kit named Hope. And that when she found help, they'd run back to bring her kit to her.
Rain was a mere three days old when she had already unknowingly experienced the death of two litter-mates. Or so her family had assumed. The unnamed male kit, and the doe, who was never found when the patrol returned. Hope, they called her. Rain never knew how broken up her parents were about it, they hid it well. It wasn't until she was older, did she realize it was a topic of tense nights. She enjoyed her parent's company, along with her sister. Their family bond one of intensity, holding them together through the darkest of times.
Muddy Paw
Rain's own mother took up training her, while her Father took up training her Sister. It made for a fun dynamic, and they'd spend many days battling together and working their muscles. Her mother was the kinder of the two, while their father, Bruiser, held high expectations. Rain often thought of it like a game, never sure if they purposefully acted this way, or if it was natural. Rain's sister, Echo, was the natural of the two. Catching her Father's attention every time the two girls attempted to best each other. While many would have ended up becoming bitter, Rain was thankful for it. It gave her a break and spared her a good amount of lectures. Rain was always the more free-spirited of the two. There was a time period where she contemplated changing mentors, and training to be a digger. In fact, both of the girls did. Often talking about what life would be like if they chose a different destiny for themselves, one different from that their parents seemed to have cut out for them. But, Rain soon realized that she enjoyed the freedoms that would come with her future rank, and the ability to protect those she loved. Her sister however, continued with this fantasy. Inevitably, she chose the path of becoming a Digger. While their parents were disappointed, they were too fond of their kits to ever disagree with their life choices. As Rain ranked up to Owsla, she watched her sister continue to hold her Muddy Paw rank. After-all, she'd have to start training all over again.
Owsla
Rain fit into her role with her parents just fine. Leading a relatively normal life, her favorite past-time was when she got to patrol with both Wisteria and Bruiser. They were always quick to take up lead, leaving Rain to wander behind lost in a daydream. Her mind running rampantly into the clouds. That was however, until she got a rude awakening in the form of her Father's death. Bruiser was slaughtered while on patrol, a group of Bogweed rabbits jumping him and two others from behind. It was a foxhearted move, and one that cost Bruiser his life. He had fended the rabbits off long enough so that the two other Owsla on patrol were able to safely get away. Her Father's body was never found, presumably, his pelt was being used by some no life Bogweed rabbit. Rain was enraged by the thought, and seemed to quickly snap out of her "not a care in the world" faze.
Wisteria's Retirement
Rain watched as her Mother took up an early form of retirement. After Bruiser had been slaughtered in battle she never was quite the same. Her mind seemed more scattered, and off some where else. Many of her fellow Owsla members had noticed this when she often forgot about patrol, or would ask where Bruiser was. Rain and Echo assumed it was her way of coping, and did their best to help her. Many nights were filled with Wisteria's sobs as she remembered over and over again her mate's death. With the help of her sister, Rain eventually was able to convince her Mother to take up a new job within the warren. The rank of a Mother. While she was far too old, and too out of it, to have kits of her own. Rain and Echo both decided she would benefit greatly from being around kits. They were boisterous, full of questions, and had tons of energy. If there was one thing they could be sure, it was that their Mother would never again be burdened with the silence of her own thoughts. Echo was able to keep a close eye on their mother because she was a Digger, and would often visit her after a long day of working or training others. Echo and Rain often take their mother on strolls around the territory, as her health has significantly begun to deteriorate over time. Many times, she doesn't get out unless with her daughters.
The Bogweed Fire
Of course, Rain was one of the first to tally in her support to rescue Campion. When he was taken from their Buttercup home, she was just as angered as everyone else. Once again, Bogweed had stolen someone in her life. This time, her leader. When the time came that they trudged into those beast's camp, she fought with her life. The deep gash along her thigh to prove it. She was surprised that her sister, Echo, had accompanied her. Having spent most of her life as a digger, the Owsla's sister was insistent that she remembered their training as kits. Together they were a force to be reckoned with. However, at the end of it all, bringing Campion home ended up being the biggest mistake of their lives. They watched with horror as his mentality declined. A shell of the leader he once was, and when he seemed to go missing into the night? Well let's just say Rain wasn't too phased. It seemed more like a blessing than anything else. She held high hopes for their new Chief Valerian after the disappearance of Campion.
Making a Living
Rain still lacks knowledge of her sister's existence. Jasmine, once known as Hope, has managed to live under the radar of her siblings. After-all, it's not like neither Rain nor Echo have ever imagined their sister survived. Wisteria often talked about her weaker, and smaller size, how it must have been what got the kit they knew as 'hope' killed. That of which Jasmine is not. She'd often take Wisteria on 'walks' along with her sister Echo. Family time was an important part of life for her. It kept Rain sane, especially when the work load she bore was that of protecting everyone. A normal life however, has never been a normal for the rabbits of The Valley. This is when strangers began appearing within the Valley, and this left the doe uneasy, apparently with good reason.
Echo & Wisteria's Death
The passing of Rain's family seemed to follow one right after the other. During the large battle, the first battle, that took place with Lan-Hraeth, Echo was slaughtered. Rain often blamed herself for it, muttering to herself how her sister should have been more keen on keeping herself well rounded in all skills. Including that of fighting, especially living in a war. Due to Echo's death, Wisteria's health began to snowball straight downhill. During this time period Rain practically never left her Mother's side. Talking, sharing stories, and just trying to give her as much company and comfort as she could. As much as Rain didn't want to admit it, deep down, she knew Wisteria's time was coming soon. One of the very last thing's she questioned her mother about was seeing a rabbit with a pelt similar to Echo's during the large Lan-Hraeth battle. Wisteria took the time to open up, and expression her doubtfulness of "Hope's" death. And that Wisteria believed Hope, was still alive, out there, somewhere. At the time, Rain took it as mostly the ramblings of a dying elderly rabbit. It wasn't even a moon cycle when Rain's mother also passed away. Likely due to the stress, her age, and over-all grief that came with the loss of Echo. Rain took the death pretty hard, emptiness seemed to fill her soul. It hurt to lose everyone she cared about all at once. She had nobody else. No friends, and now? No family. She was empty. Around the time Valerian was calling for help to meet at Gladiolus' request, Rain wandered off on her own. In search of the drain in which she and her siblings had been born. The doe was determined to lay in much for the rest of her days, moping about. It was a useless feeling, but one she didn't feel like she could shake. Some might have called it depression, which was understandable given how much Rain loved her family. How much time and effort she invested into both Echo and Wisteria.
Captured By The Farmer
Laying in filth and rancid smelling water, Rain was surprised to see an elderly looking woman approach the drain that Rain had sheltered into. It was obvious the woman saw her, and yet Rain chose not to move. She didn't care, at least, not really. She lost everything she loved, she did she care if this human was going to hurt her? Maybe it would mean she'd be reunited with her family alongside Occidens. Though, it the elderly woman clearly had no malicious intent. She carefully picked up the docile Rain, and placed her in a hutch. It took a few days for Rain to adjust, but soon she was eating the food the humans fed her, and sleeping comfortably in the hay. It gave her an excuse to have no purpose. It gave her an excuse to mope, and do absolutely nothing. After-all, it wasn't really her fault she was stuck in a cage at the farm.. right..?
Family Reunion
There came a point where Rain's solitude in the hutch was ruined, and two other rabbits had been placed along-side her. However, she was beyond thrilled to see the familiar pelt of the Bogweed rabbit she'd seen before. The Bogweed rabbit she'd questioned her Mother about. The Bogweed rabbit who could have been her sister. Hesitant, Rain tried to converse. At first, it was simple things. Like swapping names, asking about each-others lives. But it quickly tumbled into deep, long, and much needed talks. They shared their lives, information about one another, and quickly came to find their relation to one another as sisters. It was something the both of them needed, but Rain especially. She was a bit shocked to find out her sister, who was now known as Jasmine, was mated to a rabbit she thought of as the most evil thing in existence. But given the circumstances, at that point? She didn't care. She was just happy to have someone, anyone, to relate to and talk to. She took to Atticus, Jasmine's son, rather quickly. It was nice to know she had a nephew, and loved to answer the zillion little questions he'd bombard her with. Rain often thought of him as her best friend, even though he really was just her sister's nephew.
A Bogweed Home
Staying within the hutch had never been the intention of Jasmine's, despite it being that of Rain. She'd hoped Jasmine wouldn't have minded staying in the hutch, but she knew deep down, they both wished for their freedom back. The two does worked together an escape plan, and were able to execute it flawlessly. Leaving the cage without so much as a scratch on her, Atticus, or Jasmine. Rain mostly followed along, unsure of the Bogweed territory that Jasmine led her through. While she partially wanted to return to the hills of Buttercup, Rain knew that if she wanted to continue to enjoy life. She'd have to do it by learning to love the life her sister lived in Bogweed. And she was more than willing. Rain was more than willing to join within the ranks of Bogweed, and took up the position of becoming a private.
