Description So I don't get sued. I don't own any rights to the characters in BlazBlue. I didn't create them blah blah blah you get it.

Ok, so with that out of the way...

This is a, pretty quick, original artwork of Hakumen, not a copy like what I usually do. As much as I hate to admit it, I dont do well in just drawing things straight from my head, I need a reference. The pencil drawings I do are copies, although I do draw them from scratch. I guess I just wanted to try my hand at something I was more unfamiliar with doing, y'know leaving the comfort zone and all. Hopefully in the process, this will help to shape me into a better, more well-rounded artist.

I wanted to create something with Hakumen in it because I use him quite frequently online. He's a bad-ass character, but I also know there's a deeper part of Hakumen's character a good amount of people don't see.

(SPOILERS)*****************************

Jin is, in essence still the young boy that vies for Ragna's attention (Although, he's just a jerk to pretty much everyone else). When he sees Noel or Ragna he begins to feel inferior or guilty. His Nox Nyctores, Yukianesa, helps him cope with these insecurities by....well, making him go bat shit crazy. When Jin dons the Sankishin Susano-o Unit Armor, he's forced to deal with those insecurities.

(END OF SPOILERS)*************************

Hakumen, when gaining the armor, ceases to be what he once was: human. So this picture emits a somewhat somber tone, with a deeper meaning in its simplicity. In my opinion, at any rate. I guess I should've used a different color scheme if I wanted to give it a more dramatic effect, though...*sigh* ah well.

I'm quite aware of the mistakes I made, proportions being the main problem. I tried to utilizing more of my strengths, which, I believe, is shading, but that doesn't always balance out the crappiness. Try not to critique too harshly, yeah?

very close to the real thing... but his legs seem a little truncated or something. Just sayin'.

I'm going to give this a simply because of the quality of the composition alone.

Even if it was done with colored pencil, the detail you put into it was very good plus your sense of depth is decent here as well.

Jin always struck me as less insecure and more of the jealous type, as he vyed for the attentions of his older brother over his sister.

I think in this way, becoming Hakumen was a means for him to atone.

What's more...the fact that Terumi was formerly in the unit he "exists" in, makes his goal that much clearer.

Thanks man, it means a lot to hear someone have something positive to say about it.

The black parts, I should mention, were done with graphic pencils (Hard vs Softer Lead). The colored parts were generic colored pencils though.

That's true, I forgot that a lot of his story contains the them of atonement. I honestly can't wait to see the history between Hakumen and Terumi.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is already out in arcades, in fact I know someone who bought the board.

Hazama (Terumi) and Tsubaki Yayoi are playable so you'll see a few things.

The Sound Accord Volume #1 comes out December 23rd. BlazBlue Portable comes out Feb 2010 next year, and sometime after that, Continuum Shift will hit PS3/360.

Yeah, I've seen some gameplay of some really good Hazama players. Looks pretty exciting. His theme is pretty awesome too.
