Personality:

Clinical: Damascus has a certain way of speaking that is almost overly objective and impersonal. Too efficient. His tone comes across as cold and detached and he has a resting facial expression to match. To make matters worse, he's a blunt individual by nature and seems to many to be very insensitive, or rude, even. Truthfully he does think about what he's going to say a lot before he opens his mouth, and he does care about people's feelings. His tone and manner of speaking is more instinctual than intentional.

Level-headed: Matching his seemingly cold exterior, Dama has a cool mind as well. He's very slow to show intense emotion, if he shows it at all. It's difficult to rile him up. He presents an uncharacteristically calm and sensible exterior in comparison to other cubs, particularly some of his siblings. He's often labeled as "the quiet one."

Reflective: Dama is very self aware, in fact, he spends a substantial amount of time thinking about how he and his actions affect those around him- as well as a fair bit of introspection. He does try not to come off as hurtful or mean in his speech when he realizes that he's offended someone or hurt their feelings. Its somewhat of a constant battle between being nice or being himself. That being said his intentions are never to upset anyone. Even so, his deep bouts of thought can come off as broody or even pensive, thus further carrying the false idea that Damascus is a mean cub.

Critical: He's not inclined to believe anything that doesn't make sense or that he doesn't have any sort of clear-cut proof for. Particularly abstract ideas or concepts are difficult for him to wrap his head around, such as unfounded beliefs and superstitions as well as anything to do with "the soul" as some examples. He can also be unintentionally judgemental when it comes to first impressions of others. Thankfully he tends to keep these unwanted thoughts to himself- most of the time- as he fights his ongoing battle to just be nice.

Inquisitive: Even at a young age, Damascus has the mark of a cat who might grow up to join the Order of the River. He's very curious and fascinated with asking questions of all different kinds. He is particularly fascinated by things he isn't inclined to believe right away. Like if someone told him there was a giant cub-eating fish lurking in the darkest depths upstream of Lightning's camp, he'd probably become very fascinated with the idea though he wouldn't believe it until he saw it or found strong evidence of it.

Playful: Probably the least expected trait to be exuded by Damascus as well as the only one to cut through his seemingly icy caricature. Even at his most dour of appearances, Dama can be easily lured in by a game or made to laugh at a particularly funny joke. Yes, laugh. He doesn't laugh much outside of family, but when it happens it can be a bit of a jarring sights to cats who don't know him and are used to the emotionless or unhappy exterior he is almost constantly presenting. He does actually quite enjoy laughing and playing games as well as the occasional harmless prank on his parents. A very unexpected side to him unless you know him well.

Background:

One way or another, life had always seemed to get in the way of Styx's proposal plans.. On he day he finally decided it was time to stop waiting and just ask- hunters attacked the pair while they were out on the planes. This led to a quick chase, followed by the lovers taking refuge in a sinkhole. The carefully assembled string of beads Styx had made broken, both he and Eris left at the bottom of the sinkhole, nothing was going right. During his ensuing emotional breakdown, Styx accidentally confessed his plans for a proposal. Eris affectionately told him off for all his worries about the quality of the proposal. She'd never needed anything extravagant, and she already knew how she felt about him. Both confessed their feelings deep within the cave.

They were soon safe back with their empire and it was less than a year after that the two were expecting a litter of their own. Damascus was born to Lighting Empire's healer Eris and Order of the Storm member Styx alongside his siblings Aristotle, Homer, and Dysnomia. Rocks gathered from the sinkhole Styx and Eris took refuge in decorated their den, hung from the ceiling.

Additional Info:

- Damascus is far sighted meaning anything within a few feet of him grows incredibly blurry, because of this he struggles with a bit of face blindness and is more accustomed to identifying his family by scent
- Dama suffers from seasonal allergies that make his eyes water during the spring, as well as causing the occasional nose bleed
- he will inform you, however that he is not crying, he just has seasonal allergies, he does not cry and if you want to comfort someone who is crying you should talk to his dad
