Description My character app for

Name:
(None. Goes by Null for human and school convenience.)

Age: 103

Height: 5' 4"

Monster type/species:
Ngaro- Guardian forest spirits, said to be the lost souls of trees which have been massacred. They are shy creatures who do not like to be seen, wearing masks over their faces and disappearing from sight if one looks at them, but they fiercely protect the sanctity of the deep forests. Ngaro faces are hideously marred, and legends say that should a human behold their unmasked visage, they will die within the week. Whether related to this legend or not, as a culture they do not remove their masks in the presence of others, even of their own kind.

Grade: Freshman

Glamor item: Wooden ring with green stone.

Character's Major: Expressive Arts

Current Classes: -

Passed Classes: -

Current Points: 0

Natural weapons: (none)

Trained weapons: Ngakau- A curved dagger that is given along with clothes and a unique mask to a Ngaro when they are first found and brought to the Glade. It is said to be taken from the heart of the dead tree which they once were.

Weakness:
-Phsyically weak, light and frail. Not necessarily breakable (she is a spirit, however tangible), but she doesn't have the strength to do a lot of damage in a hit, and can be pushed around rather easily.

-Obsidian. It is especially effective in warding off spirits, and can be very dangerous to them if it touches them, especially as a piercing weapon. Black marks will spread from a wound from this substance, and if allowed to spread across the entire body will destroy them.

-Her mask, for Ngaro do not show others their faces, and they will flee if it is removed or damaged.

Major Skills:
-Incorporeal: The ability to become invisible and intangible, a drifting spirit form. This is an effective elusive maneuver, but attacks can not be performed in this state, nor can any other objects be interacted with.

-Recalled Breath: Taking air from a chosen space, as a vacuum might. At this skill level, can only be used in small burst. Useful for putting out or defending against small areas of fire, or causing a small rush of air toward oneself.

-Ngakau proficiency: Significant experience wielding this blade.

Minor Skills:
-Herbology: As is to be expected, she knows a great deal about plants and the uses thereof, for any species of creature. She does not, however, have a great deal of practice in the use of them.

-Heart of Nature: The ability to communicate and empathize with flora and fauna (to an extent). Often a Ngaro will be found surrounded by floating green lights, which are the living spirits of plants come to speak with them.

-Uncanny Agility: Ngaro are very fleet of foot and limber. They can run very swiftly and silently through the underbrush, and leap from branch to branch of well spaced trees. One might find them even sitting sideways on a trunk, or upside down on the underside of a branch.

Personality: Shy and reclusive: a girl who speaks very little, yet has a great deal going on in her head. She is generous and diligent, as well as respectful, but curious, and surprisingly strong-willed. While it may seem that she is the good girl who will always follow the rules, she is actually the sort to do whatever she deems to be the right thing, and will stand up for what she believes in if she must. She also has a mischievous sense of humour, which she will put into play at unexpected times. More unexpected yet (unless one knows a thing or two about the Ngaro), is her capacity for violence. She may appear to be quite docile, but in reality she will fight ferociously if she perceives a threat to what she cares for (which is usually something to do with plants).

Character's Background: In the beginning, she knew nothing, and wandered as though lost through the underbrush. She was found by a masked man and taken to a place called the Grove, where she learned of her people- the Ngaro. There she was also given clothes, a weapon, and a mask, and for the next few years she was trained how to protect the forest.
Then she and her mentor parted ways, and she spent a century roaming the woods and caring for them.
One day, though, a human found his way in and collapsed, wounded. She hesitated at first, but decided to help him, and with some guidance from the spirits of the flora, she tended to his injuries and built a fire to keep him from freezing to death during the night. When he awoke, he told her his tale and how he had come to be there, carving a piece of wood as he did. He talked and carved a little each day, and she continued to treat him until he recovered enough that he could leave. As thanks, he gave her that which he had been carving, a ring with a green stone set in it. It was odd to her, being one who respected the life of trees which provided such wood, but understood that this was his way of showing gratitude and so excepted it.
As they were parting ways, however, they were met by an unusually large group of Ngaro who grabbed her and killed the human. They then took her to the elders in the Grove, where she was told that for her crimes against nature in order to help a human, she would be banished from the forest.
In a daze she started off, but once more she was found by the masked man who had been her mentor. He knew she had been meaning well, and did not want her to be cast to the outside world where she would surely not survive, and so he told her of the academy. There she would be safe, and would learn how to survive in the human world. He had contacted the headmistress there, for she was an old friend, and she had already sent the letter of invitation- this he gave tot the girl.
Making the arrangements with some connections he had remaining there and in manner of transportation, he sent her there forthwith.

Roleplay Info:
Roleplay example:

As the scent of rice and spices wafted through the hall, a masked figure appeared out of thin air and peered curiously around the doorway. The dark haired tribal girl was lost already, though she had only been looking to find the headmistress' office. Perhaps it was her own fault for her constant habitual avoidance of others, the number of individuals on the grounds being far more than what she had ever experienced before, which subsequently caused her to hide quite often and make a detour away from whoever happened to be crossing her path. And now she was at a loss for what to do.
She had noticed the foreign smell, of course, -how could one not?- and while she was indeed trying to find her way, the curiousity of the matter was rather a distraction for her. Curiouser yet was the creature who was creating those intoxicating vapours. She stood frightfully tall, nearly two feet taller than the quiet onlooker, and bore many more than the standard two arms. Each limb moved independantly from the others, stirring and mixing, reaching for various tools and containers. It was all very peculiar to a backwater forest spirit like her, and morbidly fascinating for how intimidating the preparer was.

She glanced up then, a rather small apron on her otherwise tall frame, a smile went over her lips, "Well hello there!" A chuckle, "Was making myself a little food from home...but i lack some good peppers..." She glanced back "I swear that blue headed girl hid them..." She grumbles again looking at the rice then back up her hands getting a few plates and utensils. "I like the mask, very nice!" She held a plate in one hand as the others got a few more plates out "But I should have enough for a couple guests...this just needs to simmer for about ten minutes then go uncovered for five..." A glance arond "The cafe' is closed for now but the kitchen's nice and big, take a seat and I'll get a plate for you when it's done, name's Yasmin Attar by the way, Asura..." She thought for a moment, she had her glamor in her bag nearby, did her look intimidate this masked girl?, as her otherarms mixed the rest of the ingrediants

Surprise struck the slender girl as the tall one began to speak to her. Or was she? She considered the truth of this for a few moments until the many-armed girl glanced toward her and commented on her mask, acknowledging her presence. Swiftly, she vanished, hiding incorporeally as the other continued to chatter at her. It was frightening. This was not any sort of place for her. She belonged in the depths of a forest, where only medium sized or stupid creatures could enter. So she told herself over and over, yet once again her insatiable curiousity pulled at her. Cafe? Kitchen? Why a plate for her? What was being prepared? Was Asura the name of her kind? And how curious names were. The wonderment over these questions brought her to appear again slowly, peeking once more -more cautiously- around the doorframe.

More about the Ngaro:

Ngaro  Guardian forest spirits, said to be the lost souls of trees which have been massacred. They are shy creatures who do not like to be seen, wearing masks over their faces and disappearing from sight if one looks at them, but they fiercely protect the sanctity of the deep forests. Although one would think that they would be weak to things such as fire, blades, and pests, they are instead especially violent toward the forementioned affronts. It is better to consider them as spirits than bodies of wood, for if they indeed were once trees (memories of such a time do not exist within them), they are no longer.
Though adamant guardians, they are not explicitly violent. Nor are they exceptionally kind. Their malevolance or benevolence is dependant on the state of their home and the way one is treating it. While they are known to stir up mischief and tricks against intruders, they are just as likely to display curiousity toward wand

Auuugh your inking in this makes me so mad. IT'S SO GOOD. THOSE LINE WEIGHTS.
Ahem. Moving on from that. I'm not going to go too far into your skills in painting, with your gorgeous color choices or the way you captured the drapery of her costume perfectly. Or the beautiful hair on this character. Or the just general feeling of spookyness gained from an otherwise beautiful character...in both forms.

I'll just say that she seems like a very interesting character, and one that would be unusual to play. A shy, but dangerous, spirit.

Yeah, I really like playing her. It's a challenge to describe her body language in such a way to make it express what she wants to communicate to others.

I am really glad you think it's so great! I feel like I'm finally doing better at lines and colours. T^T
