Description So while driving up north on Highway 101 you come through a town called Orick California and there are signs all over the road about watching for Elk. Well I have seen Herds of them many times on this drive but On this Rainy day I have to say I seen some of the biggest Racks I have ever seen!

First of all I want to say what a great looking animal. I am a hunter so I know a good bull elk when I see one and this is a beautiful bull. Nice long swords a little weak on his 3rds (G3s) but not bad at all. -then again this is coming from a hunter who doesn't really care how big the rack is so long as it puts meat in the freezer XP)
Anyway on to the picture itself. I absolutely love that you have the log in the foreground. It adds to the overall depth of the image. The lighting is great, and the rain thats hazing up the background adds to the overall appeal of the image wonderfully.
I like how you got the real dark color of the brow tines with the ivory tips, and the fact that you can see the lightness of the rest of his antlers and yet the dark bits that the pine sap leaves when they rub off their velvet.
I also noticed that the grass is a beautiful vibrant green in the shot despite the slightly grey of the upper half of the image, the bull also seems to be exempt from the foggy effects of the rain around him, though you can clearly tell that he is soaked.
There isn't really much I would change about the image but possibly a landscaped shot would add to the image. Sometimes by taking a picture vertical you take away from an image. I don't mean to say that this image is bad in any way for I assure you it is not.
I am only trying to say that maybe if you set the bull off to the side instead of centered it would change the feel of the shot a little. I try to take multiple shots of any subject though I understand and know that sometimes the animal does not cooperate with you, but you take what you can get.
Over all no matter how you look at it the image is wonderful. Again I stand by what I said before about there being little I would change. I may not be as experienced as most of the photographers out there but I can't pass up a chance to comment on an image I like.

Thank you So Much... I was very happy see see this guy standing in a Meadow and had it not been raining as much i would have gotten a lot more shots from all angles but was not willing to risk my camera. and every time i take that drive i look for them to get a better shot.. some day i will

^^ your very welcome. Because I bow hunt I usually get up close and personal. Like once my dad called an entire herd in on us while we were laying around taking a break. Had a cow nearly step on me. I have called in calves and yearlings and a few years ago I brought a bull in so close he actually reached out and sniffed the arrows in my dads quiver. I didn't have a camera then but since i do now It is going everywhere with me during the hunts.

I know people have a lot of bad stuff to say about hunting, but there is one thing thats for sure you see and experience things no one else will. Seeing these huge animals so close its amazing.

Its understandable that you didn't get more because of the rain... i wont even take my camera out in the rain for the fact that its my baby. XP

Is it going to have the watermark (your signature) on the print? I know artists like to sign their work.. but this would be for my dad and he is not to fond of having anything written on the print.

I have seen these before - nothing quite like this one. This is a unique shot for a number of reasons - but mostly I think it's the wet look.

Very cooL!
