Tack: Under saddle (with children, although Laura still has a go sometimes) he goes in a Dutch Gag on the second ring. In harness he's driven in rubber (mullen mouth) Butterfly Pelham.
Personality: The sweetest. There is absolutely no competition for the most well-mannered horse on the yard!! Henry loves being played with or just groomed, loves making friends in the fields, loves exploring, and doesn't seem to spook at anything. He has a shrill whinny that the staff swear can be heard over two miles away, and he hates being parted from company, meaning he almost always has his head over his door. This means he has a special hay manger hung on the door of his box, so he can always see what's going on. Eleanor suspects he may need a travel companion when he starts showing, thanks to his friendly nature.
History/Backstory: Adopted as a colt from Brazen Fields, backed and brought on at Oak Hollow

"Sorry guys...I must have been mistaken. I thought it was just an auction auction - looks like just Thoroughbreds to me." Marcus shrugged as they examined the horses up for auction, each in their own temporary stables. There were all types of Thoroughbred here, but nothing they could take home to the yard as a school pony, trekking horse or future showing horse.

"We never know - one might turn out like Jett did." Laura said hopefully, eyeing up a particularly nice grey.

"We can't take that risk. That would be depriving a fine horse of their chance in the racing world." Eleanor shook her head and made to turn back the way they had come. She was tired out by their trip overseas, and couldn't wait to be home again with her cats and her own horses once more.

"Hey - hey wait! Look at this!" Laura grabbed her mum and Marcus' sleeves and pulled them back a few paces.

At the end of the line, in another temporary stable, was a blood bay pony. He stuck his nose over the door, nostrils flared at their strange scent, and whinnied for attention.

"Is he definitely for auction?" Marcus said doubtfully, scrutinising the little bay.

"Here - on his info. Welsh C ... projected 12.2hh...says he's left over from the last auction. No bids. Awww, mum!" Laura span around and looked pleadingly into her mother's eyes. "Come on!! We need another pony!"

"Since when, dear?"

"Since you said you're retiring Caspian in a couple of years and we need another schoolie to take part in pony weeks and beach hacks and you'd like a nicely built show pony to enter into some regionals to publicise the yard!"

"She's gooooood." Marcus jested, smirking at Eleanor.

Eleanor cocked her head from one side to the other, thinking it over. "Go on then. We'll put in a bid. See what he goes for - too high and I pull out."

Laura was practically skipping with delight as she made her way down to the collecting ring to pick up the little pony. There he was - a perfect Welsh pony, eyes bright, ears pricked, he seemed to sense he was being taken to a new home. He kicked the bars of the gate until she had rubbed him on his bright white star.

"Are you excited, beautiful?" Laura whispered, tickling the pony behind his ears. He whickered with pleasure and nudged her elbow. "Just wait til we get you on the yard. You'll love it!"
