Well they have a pretty stong? straightening? in the neck. I have no idea how it's called in english but when the horse's neck gets that nice bow and the neckbone is the highest point and so on. So the muscles that are used usually make the neck look thicker. So I think it's ok, even for a thoroughbred, which can be more muscular too ^^

Yeah I suppose their necks would be thicker with more schooling work in dressage. We call it "being in an outline" or "on the bit" or "in a contact". I prefer the last term most because I think it indicates the use of the hindquarters most out of all three phrases.

I don't draw enough of Cobweb and I do so love greys.
Yeah usually it doesn't work out but I referenced so hard off the reference picture, it was small but very clear which helped a lot. I've drawn circles and triangles all over it to try and help me with placings of body parts!
