Description Yuuki Asuna from Sword Art Online
Total Work Time: 17 hours 26 minutes

Finally I'm able to complete a work again
A lot more freestyling here compared to all my previous works, heck I actually think I'm getting better at this. I hope I get more time to do more works in the near future.

So yeah, comments and suggestions please?
Let me know if you want to request any anime character from me xD

I'm loving all these pieces, but would you mind telling me if you made that background yourself or took it from somewhere? I ask because I'm learning to use Photoshop CS6 and am trying to figure out backgrounds.

I'm really glad you liked them

All the backgrounds in the works I've posted here were taken either from the net (Free to use of course ) or as screenshots from the anime itself, of course the recent works have a heavy blurring to their backgrounds.

I'm no stranger to Photoshop but I use GIMP for these works I'm also trying to figure out backgrounds and I have learned quite a lot though nothing yet satisfying enough to post here. Well, it's true that practice makes perfect but I suggest you make small goals instead of a big vague "I want to make backgrounds" goal. Small goals such as "making a nice looking sky", "making a skyline", etc. You'll learn lots of tricks and eventually you'll be able to juggle those tricks together and before long you'll be making a lot of original backgrounds

Oh! and now that I think about it, my works on Lucy Heartfilia and Natsu Dragneel have custom backgrounds, I stitch lots of images together and also added lots of original elements to get what I want for those backgrounds hahaha enjoy making art!

Oh, your works are wonderful, especially your recent ones. I like the "invisible" outlines. Your past ones had a visible black outline, which I suspect was done by SAI "curve/line" guideline tool...am I right? Let me know what you use because there are was to change the pressure even if you use a mouse!

Nice guess but no My selected weapon in the world of Digital Art is GIMP though I'm not a stranger to other programs such as SAI, Photoshop, and even Corel

The "invisible" outlines are done differently depending on the case:
1) If it's an outline between two different base colors, then I don't really do much unless I have to drop a shadow to create depth
2) If it's an outline within the same base color (Like a separate piece of cloth such as the middle cloth seen with Asuna) I "imply" the existence of the outline with pure shadows. Then depending on how much depth I like to create, I use different shadow intensities and radii

I primarily use a mouse (Paths is the way to go for this artist ) Though when I reach the final editing phase and I can't edit well enough with the mouse, I switch to a tablet for accuracy

Thanks!   Hmmm I guess every now and then I'll have to revisit my old artworks and redo them in my new style hahaha

I might even redo Minami or just do another character from Baka and Test for you
