Description
'The Islanders' is an informal name used to describe the Humans that populate a set of island chains far to the south of the Imperial Realm and the Tal Cities.
The Islanders themselves are generally physically taller, and more muscled than their continental cousins. However unlike on the mainland, they are not united under one set of rulers, each island or nomadic fleet might have its own King or council of elders to lead them and conflict between them is not uncommon.
Given their isolation and how sparsely populated they are they have so far avoided being conquered by the Empires and powerful kingdoms in the world, though throughout history many ambitious warlords and fleet admirals have tried. And even though all eventually failed, many still managed to carve out their own island kingdoms among the island chains.
Recently however turmoil has caused many Islanders to leave their home islands and journey to neighbouring areas, such as the Tal Cities, in search of work, food and free land.
In Tal'Lushan in particular there is a sizable immigrant population of Islander Humans, who have assimilated quite well into their new home, offering their skills as able seamen and navigators on many of the trading and fishing ships that berth there.
