Description Okay, so one of them isn't finished. I just really liked how these turned out. Been using a new technique that Mark Crilley suggested (If you don't know who he is, look up his series "Miki Falls").

Can this be all one girl? Probably not. They don't look enough alike. I really need to work on my consistency. *sigh*

He gave me the idea of using a black prismacolor pencil instead of ink (I'm better with pencils). That's the technique.

Awesome!

XD I've been thinking of working with other styles as well... it unnerves me that I've been drawing Butch Hartman Style for so long, that I can no longer draw nime characters u_u

I've seen a couple of Mark Crilley's videos. He's a really amazing artist. Fell in love with his Akiko books back in, like... Gosh, must have been fourth grade or so. The art in his books, comic or otherwise, is just amazing. He's one of my favorite artists.

It even says so on my profile page!

Nice work.. your poses just keep looking more and more natural! I especially like the top left, you can 'feel' the weight of her stance really nicely there.

Yeah, now if they all would come out like that one. There's something I really like about it, but something I really don't at the same time. Weird, huh? Anywho, thank you.

Maybe they not all the same, but they all look cool. I like the one in the upper right - it looks like she's trying to block something.

Geez, I love how you can get all those realistic folds in the clothing. Such a task to do... XD

Ah, I've seen one of his videos. Awesome guy and artist. But what new technique are you speaking of with these pictures?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Obi-quiet In reply to ElectricEidolon [2007-07-28 18:39:44 +0000 UTC]

Basically, it's the idea of using a black colored pencil to outline instead of ink. It has it's merits too.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElectricEidolon In reply to Obi-quiet [2007-07-28 18:42:32 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see... Hm. But wouldn't that be messier? I mean, pencil has a bad tendency to smear for no reason...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Obi-quiet In reply to ElectricEidolon [2007-07-28 18:48:05 +0000 UTC]

Not colored pencil, although it's a little more difficult to get seriously clean lines when it dulls even a little bit.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElectricEidolon In reply to Obi-quiet [2007-07-28 18:51:53 +0000 UTC]

Hm, okay. I think I get it. Then again with ink, the ink can leak farther than you want and ruin the picture permanently- whereas the pencil can be erased.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Obi-quiet In reply to ElectricEidolon [2007-07-28 19:05:38 +0000 UTC]

These pencils don't erase as well or as easily, but much better than ink. It's like a combination of graphite and ink. It's easier to get a gradation because it's pencil, not to mention more mistakes can be fixed more easily, while on the other hand it isn't AS permanent, nor as clean as a pen. I think it would be interesting to use both techniques, and I'm going to be working on it today.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElectricEidolon In reply to Obi-quiet [2007-07-28 19:25:21 +0000 UTC]

Oh, so it's a special type of pencil? I understand what you are saying but you'll definitely have to tell me how that works out. Ink just seems a bit more.... final to me? Hm....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Obi-quiet In reply to ElectricEidolon [2007-07-28 20:18:24 +0000 UTC]

Well, they're prismacolors if those are "special" other than the fact that they rock out loud and kick butt when it comes to awesomeness...but hey. This stuff can be extremely "final". It's somewhat erasable...but marginally so. It is much easier to erase a dark graphite line.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElectricEidolon In reply to Obi-quiet [2007-07-28 22:54:46 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I think I'll definitely give it a shot. I have Prismas so perhaps the black pencil in there will do. If it's better than ink- it's something I'll look into.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Obi-quiet In reply to ElectricEidolon [2007-07-28 23:26:28 +0000 UTC]

Well, I wouldn't say "better", but I wouldn't say "worse" either. Easier to get ahold of, yes, but it has its own issues. *shrug* But I'm liking where it's going. My arm hurts after I finish a picture though. *shakes arm*

Not really, I meant that there are alot of sketches and drawlings on here that label people as random. Probably not as random a comment as you probably thought

Obi-quiet In reply to Destroyer77 [2007-07-28 23:38:23 +0000 UTC]

You're right...someone after me own heart. *does a dramatic faint* Most people can't follow my logic when I know exactly how I got where I got. Did that make sense?

BTW, how long has your little avatar dude been falling? I'll bet he'd gone the equivalent of a mile or two at least.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Destroyer77 In reply to Obi-quiet [2007-07-29 00:37:47 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that sorta makes sense. It can be interpreted many ways though, not sure if I got it exactly

Oh yeah, digital miles of course. He's been rolling EST Dec 22, 2005. About a year and a half or so (I hate math, so I won't exact)

Fine then math lady: 584 Days -- or -- 83 Weeks and 3 Days at about .3 digital miles per hour making it 4204.8 digital miles

Obi-quiet In reply to Destroyer77 [2007-07-30 00:22:05 +0000 UTC]

...wow. I thought you didn't like math? Nice job. How did you figure .3 digital miles per hour? Or .3 miles per hour. (BTW that is a LONG hill).
