I had the same problem in my novel, Her Heart Unchained: Sarah was trying to her future demon boyfriend into the house (he was unconscious and found washed up on her beach front property) and the knob jokes were flying.

Man, you're the reason I started doing comic strips even though I just make them with screenshots. Your FF7 comic motivated me so much (not to mention E3 trailer from remake).
I would say that you're doing pretty awesome work so far and I know how long and passionate your journey it is. With every page you deliver us new experience.

I was going to make an off-handed comment about it playing like Okami but I realize I'd play the fuck out of that too. Especially thinking about the human-sized bosses in that game. There's a nice sense of badassery in a bestial wolf-like thing taking down your typical anime-cool-guy. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe the unpredictable movement of an animal.
Since the remake is so close let's see if they figured out Red XIII combat or not. He's suspiciously absent from the trailers. I (personally) think he looks kind of awful in Advent Children (the fur technology has not aged well) and I hope that's not why they're hiding him!

Its the act of being expressive that makes things memeable though, that's whats great about it. The Smug look on Aeris, the "I'ma RIDIN Mah Bahk!" on this page, it works so well when you're able to find the funny in your stuff.
You'd be able to have a "heh...I'm in danger" scene too when you see the team about to kill Demons Gate too.
