In the shadow of Trigon's failed attempt to rule the Earth, surrounded by the still burning remains of Old Jump City; the cause of a neverending rain of ash and dust; Starfire remains as firm and vigilant as ever. However, Raven, having taken it the hardest, has begun to lose hope in their cause.
Different use of art style for this one. Extra difficult and time consuming, even though the lineart was not inked and simply used as is (still has to be extra clean). The background is probably where the most time was spent.

They look really beautiful, and their opposite expressions are fantastic. I like their clothes, too, although I wouldn't imagine Raven to choose white.
Not that that matters- and it might have a symbolism I can't see.

Is -no- one, over -4- pages, going to point out the Half Life 2 Pulse rifles!?
-Very- nice. I think that the background is just -amazing-, especially the burning cities. I like the armor as well, although I tend to prefer more practical armor (Ones with pockets, logically-placed pads, etc. That's just a personal preference though.)
One piece of purely constructive criticism: It would look more realistic, as well as strengthening the overall mood of the picture, if you adjusted Starfire's right (her right) pupil to the far edge of her eye. It would make her look as though she was looking around for threats or friendlies instead of just staring at something in the distance. I don't mean to be too presumptious in giving such criticisms, that's just my opinion.

Strange you should mention the HL2 Pulse Rifle and comment on the armor. Cause if you've read "Half Life 2: Raising the Bar" it is a book filled with many pieces of art and concepts never used in Half Life 2. Starfire's armor is based upon the female assassin concept in that book.

Wow... I'm not really sure what else to say. The effort in this piece really shows (I like this style much more than your cleaner style). The costumes are great and what I REALLY love about this piece are the expressions. Is there a story to go with this piece? If so, where can I find it?

Yes I did draw Starfire's hair shorter. Seemed to me, with all that ash and dust falling, that long hair would be more trouble than its worth. Surprisingly guns are not that difficult to draw, they are mostly straight lines. I think the biggest problem comes from trying to make then not look too big or too small for their hands.

Talk about role reversals - Starfire looks so battlehardened and stern, but Raven looks very weary and worried. Love the costume designs.

I love love love this. Not just the outfits (and those -do- rock), but the fact that you came up with the whole end-of-the-world scenario for it. You rally can see the despair in poor Raven's expression, even behind her mask. Same with Starfire, with how determined she looks. And I really like how it's got a somewhat sketchy/water-colour feel to it, yet you can still tell it's finished. Wonderful job!

Yeah, several people have commented on the similarities. To be honest the armor is a combination of inspiration I found from "Half Life 2" and "Gasaraki" But I am a fan of EVA so I guess its not surprising that some of that found its way into the design.

Strange you should say that, cause I have already written up a synopsis on what happened to each one of them after Trigon was defeated. It an idea for a fan comic I've been planning for quite awhile.
