First appearance: Metroid Fusion (2002)

Nightmare from the ”Metroid” series. It is a gravity-controlling artificial creature with both mechanical and organic attributes, and has its origins as a military weapon created by the Galactic Federation. However, in ”Metroid Fusion”, it became infected with X-Parasites and broke loose inside the arctic-themed environment of Sector 5 at the BSL station. Samus encountered an earlier version of Nightmare in the chronologically earlier ”Metroid: Other M”, where the creature is experimented on inside the frigid Sector Zero aboard the Bottle Ship.
Regardless of version, Samus must take on this creepy, cataclysmic cyborg and evade its gravity-controlling generator, energy blasters and ramming abilities.

Nightmare is definitely one of the most unique and iconic bosses in the series. While its "Other M" fights are reasonably easy, the one in "Fusion" was super-hard. Especially Nightmare's ramming attack. In both cases, its gravity-controlling gimmick makes both fights quite tricky.
As you can tell by its name, Nightmare is definitely one of the scarier monsters in the franchise. That melting face and screeching sounds is literal nightmare fuel...
At the same time, I can't help but to pity the creature. When its face is melting, it just seems to be in pain. One can only wonder what the Federation did to make it seem so tormented...

This one was pretty tricky to draw. The hardest part was, without doubt, the melting face. How can it be so hard to make one simple, dripping surface?! Not sure how good the final result is, but I had to stop somewhere
