So sweet, innocent, and erotic. The sight of the wind picking up a flimsy skirt is nice, no underwear even nicer.

This is why I never, ever, wear. A. Skirt.

Intersting stance, either she's unsure of her balance, or unsure of herself.

How do you make her hair gold? That is devilishly difficult!

odavis In reply to CrystalEnceladus [2010-05-04 18:20:03 +0000 UTC]

Same here.

Interesting observation, because she (an ex girlfriend) was really unsure of herself at the time. The very reason why I did the piece. I did this over 4 years ago, but it's still for some odd reason, one of my favorite works.

Start with a tera cotta. Then use a yellow or cannery color over top of it, pressing down hard, then adding blue or green highlights, to lose the brightness a bit. Try not to over due the complimentary colors, you can lose the blondness.

CrystalEnceladus In reply to odavis [2010-05-05 04:28:08 +0000 UTC]

Terra cotta is brown, right? Right now I colour with Fabers and on occasion watercolour pencil; alas, my Derwents are back in Oz. I really must study the colour wheel. Thanks for the tip!

odavis In reply to CrystalEnceladus [2010-05-05 07:05:23 +0000 UTC]

Not really 'brown' per say. It's a strange mixture--like an orange-brown. or an earth tone. It's good for a starter sketch or mixer, because colors can easily go on top of it.

Hi, can I say, your work is fantastic? You definately have a way with prismacolors! I love them too, I just can't get the same feeling out of them!

Thanks! And feel free to say that anytime you like.

And thanks for adding me to your favorites!

How long have you been working with Prismacolors? I just started working with them, and color pencils in general, about 6 years ago and I can't put them down.

PaulSpatola In reply to odavis [2009-11-17 23:07:53 +0000 UTC]

I discovered prismacolors probably 10 years ago, I mostly just use pencil, pen and ink and airbrush. You definately have colored pencil skills! I'll keep an eye out for your work, you have a way with people, I'm mostly a creature kinda guy!

ACtually, for me, the best detail is the dots on her shirt and how they change to a lighter, different color when facing the light. Also the slight highlights on the lower front calves is truly an amazing detail.

I like this a lot: Colored pencil work tends to be either done very poorly or very professionally, and yours looks far superior to many other things I've seen done in colored pencil.

The smaller touches such as the paper flowing in the breeze and the red high heels gives this piece character.
