'stock' are those images open to the public domain and copyright free, you can take them, alter them, mangle them, do virtually what you like with them. dA has many stock artists who specialize in the taking photographs of themselves, and a handful who are brilliant .. dove-stock was one of the truly brilliant ones.

many dA artists also maintain their own stock sites .. like mine, over at stocktake .

awesome! i'm quite familiar with Dove-stock pictures and this is the piece of art i've been expecting to see from someone for so long - a well executed manip with this girl which is not fantasy. or dreamy. or has clouds and sparkle brushes.
