The common dolphin (Delphinus delphis) is the most abundant cetacean in the world, with a global population of about six million.

Physiology - Changes
Common dolphins are medium-sized dolphins; adults range between 1.9 and 2.5 m (6.2 and 8.2 ft) long and can weigh between 80 and 235 kg (176 and 518 lb), although the range between 80 and 150 kg (180 and 330 lb) is more common. Males are generally longer and heavier. The color pattern on the body is unusual. The back is dark and the belly is white, while on each side is an hourglass pattern colored light grey, yellow, or gold in front and dirty grey in back. They have long, thin rostra with up to 50–60 small, sharp, interlocking teeth on each side of each jaw.

The 2021 edition, known as Short-Beaked Common Dolphin, is now remodeled as the rule in 2023. This species was rebranded by scientists as the common dolphin instead.

Abilities
Dolphin intelligence can be attributed to the great size of their brains. In fact, dolphins have the second highest brain-to-body ratio behind humans. The dolphin brain is around 1600 grams in weight. More neurons are available to establish pathways, learn skills, and build memory in a larger brain.

Dolphins and other toothed whales use echolocation to find food and other things in the ocean. They create short broad-spectrum burst-pulses that sound like "clicks" to us when echolocating, and these "clicks" are reflected from items of interest to the whale and convey information on food sources to the whale.

Behavior
Dolphins have a pleasant reputation, but they are wild animals that should be treated with caution and respect. Interactions with humans alter dolphin behavior in a negative way. They lose their natural vigilance, making them easy prey for vandals and shark attacks.

Distribution and Habitat
Common dolphins live in both warm-temperate and tropical waters ranging from 40–60°N to 50°S. Long-beaked common dolphins mostly inhabit shallow, warm coastal water. Common dolphins are common "along shelf edges and in areas with sharp bottom relief such as seamounts and escarpments". Common dolphins have a varied diet consisting of many species of fish and squid. This includes both mesopelagic species and epipelagic schooling species. They have been recorded to make dives up to 200 metres (660 ft) deep.

Common dolphins are a widely distributed species. They can be found around the world in both offshore and coastal waters.

Tamed
Unfortunately, it won't let you ride it and be tamed right now because of the conservation laws in the 1970s and 2000s. The dolphin will lead you to some buried treasure in a nearby shipwreck or sunken ruins.
