According to something I read once, Yoshi was originally intended to be a type of Koopa, and the "saddle" was his shell. That's why his beta design looks like that. But I'm glad they went with the dinosaur route. Definitely.

Luigi: Whats'a going on? Oh, yyeeaaahh, he was weird before being changed. I don't know if a'Mario knows, but he is the head of us, so he must of been'a notified immediately of his new a-partner.
