You know, I once joked about Celestia's only speaking line in "Its About Time" by comparing to the flower shop scene.

Because everyone is either stupid or an asshole in this episode.

How was everyone stupid? And the only ponies I can think of who were assholes were the crowd heckling at Spike and the Student Six.

The Mane Six shoving an unprepared Spike out on stage without his say so and Pinkie's multiple sun attempts, including the last one, and Twilight, after being told PLENTY of times by Apple Jack to tell Celestia the TRUTH!!!!!!! Also, Celestia's bad acting was really forced. She's a politician, they're great actors!

Well what did you want them to do? Say "Sorry everypony, we're experiencing some technical difficulties" which will mostly likely cause the crowd to leave? They didn't have much time to think of the best solution and Spike is usually their guy when it comes to stalling for time.
Pinkie was only trying to help since it would have taken way longer to repair the sun they originally prepared for the play.
How is that stupidity? Twilight wanted to do something nice for Celestia and while she was told by Applejack to tell the truth, Twilight still has the mentality that she thinks that she can't tell anypony she idolizes what they think is wrong or interfering with their personal affairs. Why do you think Starlight was called by the Cutie Map to help Celestia and Luna in A Royal Problem? Fortunately in the end, Celestia explains to Twilight how wrong it is to have that mentality and that you should never hold back the truth even to those you look up to.
I don't know much about actual politicians but you have to know that Celestia isn't like other politicians. While her lack of acting is eyebrow raising, it was still a type of acting that she was inexperienced with.
