Fighting style:
She acquired her sword from a “friend” two years ago and is currently practicing Iai-jutsu in their honour. Drawing the sword would normally be impossible due to its length, but by using Accel she’s able to move forward while drawing, discarding the sheath, making it look as though she’s drawing properly. She sheathes the sword again by summoning only the sheath from her Weapon Summon seal. She combines the use of Accel with Step/Bounce to make it seem as though she is performing many attacks with one draw, but she’s actually just moving incredibly fast.
She’s extremely proficient with the Omni seal Dispel as well. She can create small Dispel fields or "orbs” that can cancel all Energy only in those areas, while maneuvering around them using her combination of Step/Bounce and Accel.
Personality:
She used to be very eccentric and laid-back, before she lost her eye to an encounter with an old “friend” two years ago, after which she became very hard to talk to. She’s best described now as a bit of a loner, but still friendly to whoever would take the time to hold a conversation with her. She doesn’t smile as much as she used to, especially after her husband’s death, but she’s not one to simply push others away, and still tries to be the happy, joking girl she was simply a few years ago. Apparently, she’s a bit of a smartass when she’s comfortable with someone, but only her husband and Frelia have confirmed that.
Background:
Rachel joined NAPSO at a young age. She started off working in Port Command, but found that the smell of the ocean made her sick and the job bored her. She decided to join City Command and work as a Conductor, instead. She met her would-be husband Jonathan on the train one day, and they instantly connected. Jonathan was a Conductor as well and was the one who suggested to her that they enroll in the Sparks program after they got married. Being the eccentric she was, she happily agreed, and enrolled in the Sparks program one year after their marriage, at the age of 22.
During their training to be Sparks, a friend of theirs who worked in City Command defected and began to commit train bombings in Sanctum’s name, claiming that the only way to solve the city’s problems was to blow them up. Clearly out of his mind, Rachel and her husband had no choice but to stop him. Their friend was an explosives expert, so doing so wasn’t easy. She lost her eye from shrapnel ejected by an explosion, but they ended up killing their friend in the end. She blamed both her injury and the fact that they couldn’t take him alive on her carelessness. Jonathan tried to comfort her, but she changed after that encounter. Taking things much more seriously, she began to discard her laid-back attitude and become a person who she felt could be respected; one that could make no mistakes. She was eventually promoted to be the Operator of the Residential District at 26 along with Jonathan, who was promoted to the Operator of the Business District.
Jonathan, unfortunately, died a year later. The causes were unknown, as his body was never found, but the speculation in the Spark intelligence community pointed to Sanctum activity being responsible. After hearing of her husband’s death, she’d come to foster a certain sort of hatred for Sanctum. She knows, however, that the citizens living in the Residential district owe most of their safety from the monsters outside to the hunters that work for Sanctum’s stronghold near the edge of the Barrier. She can’t be allowed to show any hatred towards Sanctum, else she would be buried alive by negative PR and possibly be forced to resign. Instead, she just does her job as Operator, officiating over Spark activity in the Area and dealing with any threats to the district’s safety. Sanctum doesn’t cause too much of a fuss in the Residential District, anyway.
