1st of all, I have to ask.
Why does Thomas and Gordon both have different looking lamps?.

I actually prefer the lamp Thomas is using
It also looks like it comes with a handle.

I've seen other lamps for the engine models too.
The SI3D t.v. series style lamps are still really good though.
And if I may ask, is Thomas using the brown Railway Series suburban coaches?.

I suppose you're right. I sometimes wonder what would happen if the passenger coaches from the Railway Series books had been used in the t.v. series maybe 5 or 6 years ago.
That would be really interesting to see for sure.

Okay. And I did actually notice that these brown coaches shown here resemble the ones drawn by the artist Clive Spong.

Gordon is just Jealous that he has not been updated yet so he is trying to copy as many of Thomas's upgrades to him as he can to look sort of better than he is although I do have to agree Gordon when a little bit too far with the headlamp on top of him. That will be a clearance problem with some tunnels I guess.

Yeah, the 2012 range looks good. I can't wait until Sir Handel and Duncan come out.
For a second, I thought that Gordon was overcompensating for the size his tender. You know, after seeing Flying Scotman's tender(s)?

The 2006 RWS models hold up surprisingly well in this day and age, even without baking. I still have to redownload CamScott's coaches though- that's why I used these. And because of the "permanent coupler boner" glitch these coaches have, even when swapping out coupling kuids (I gave them SI3D couplings) I added Thomas' special coach at the back.

I actually prefer them to camscott's. I think the only reason for me preferring them is because camscott's coaches lack that yellow stripe.

From the angle this was taken, it looked like Gordon didn't have a funnel, because it blended in with the station window! So I thought he was using an unrealistically huge lamp to hide that.
I must say that even I, someone who does not like baked content, find the 2012 range to be acceptable. I did of course have to tweak the smoke, sound and enginespec though. I am also working on animated interiors for the locomotives.

Not a fan of baked content? Well to be honest the 2006 models' shininess is their big flaw. It affects their face too. And baking brings out details and make models higher quality and more professional looking. That's how I see it anyway.

I'm not a fan of baked content, yeah. The 2006 models are shiny and I don't like them either for that reason. The 2012 models are far superior to them.
The 2006 sites's RWS models are probably the best Thomas models I've seen, texture-wise. If I had the knowledge to animate Walscaert's valve gear and piston-rods, I'd reverse-engineer the whole '06 fleet and remove the shine. I have the method and can use it on models like Thomas and James, but not Percy, Henry, Gordon, etc.
And then there's MSTNoodle's models which are textured extremely well but aren't quite as detailed or accurate. But that just makes up part of their charm. And it's pretty easy to add Chameleon and get changeable faces. I've done it on most of the models. I just used the '06 facepacks. Some of the models had to be revese-engineered and have the face texture re-mapped though.
Baking making things higher-quality is a matter of opinion. It can if done well, as on the models by Paul Hobbs. But done badly, like on the 09 models, it can detract from the model overall. There are other examples but I don't want to name anybody as I have much respect for model-makers with more experience and talent than I.
I still prefer photo-textures over baking though. Skipper1945 does that really, really well, as does my 1963 VW Beetle.
