Description I'm continuing my work with the recently purchased tilt-shift lens and present these three images as studies in using tilts to induce out-of-focus areas as part of the composition and aesthetic of an image. As the day was dull and grey, I have used a bleach bypass filter as part of post-processing to enhance contrasts.

I like the subtle reflection deformed by the water stream ... we can see them very well.

Many thanks, Mayumi. Do you think the blurring helps direct your vision along the stream or is it a distraction?

Cheers

Not exactly a distraction, in fact I appreciate the blur as an image in Impressionist sense (always looking at the backgrounds). But in this case when I enlarge the image, I can see the sharp focus ahead... which is quite nice.

You're welcome, dear David. Of course, cheers!

Thank you for the further feedback, Mayumi. Yes, background out-of-focus is easy to achieve with prime and zoom lenses, but sides being out-of-focus with the centre in focus can only be done with TS lenses. (Similarly top-bottom and diagonal focus.) I think I'll try some shots where I do not have so much blurring and see how they look.

Cheers
