Description ScapesRecent sad events have knocked my plans for further Features about the adventures in South Australia for six. But, I have managed to cobble together some landscapes, seascapes and cloudscapes to show you. I have limited this Feature to eight shots with some photographic observations.
My first seascape was taken at the Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island, looking out onto one of the many rocky bays along the southern coast. The weather was miserable, grey and damp, not at all conducive to bright sunny scapes. However, as I've said before,Β Taking and Making, photographers take photographs to make images, nowadays with the many software tools that are available. Consequently, you must look for potential in shots even if light and conditions are against you at the time. Here, the original was a low contrast shot mainly tones of grey with little by way of structure in the clouds or sea. However, I had

You are, of course, quite right to use, when appropriate, various Photoshop filters to bring out details. Β I usually can't stay away from those filters. Β Of course, as you'll agree, with certain textures the details and clarity filters can actually go too far and that sometimes, therefore, it's best to keep the scene softer. Β Here, however, you were right to employ the filters, which can, as you say, be especially useful in bringing out details in such things as clouds!
