a stunning shot. when i grew up, i was told that, when these hornbills made their "voom, voom, voom doo doo" sound, that was an indication that there would be a thunderstorm later on that day. It happened most of the time - well, am not sure if it was childhood illusions!

Many thanks, Henry - this fellow didn't do any calling while we were there, but I can imagine they would be sensitive to atmospheric conditions. I've noticed in the UK that during rain if birds start to chirp then the rain will stop shortly after. Anyway, good story.

I thank you, dave. It shows that the other creatures with which we share this planet have their secrets. We learn a lot about them if only we show interest in their behaviour and do some research. That is where my love of photography is concentrated - learning and trying to understand other creatures and of course, appreciate the beauty!
