Description Seen One Church...Seen 'Em All!I hesitate to post this Feature as it contains what many people will contend is very dry, boring material with lots of pictures that have no artistic merit. Possibly a valid criticism if you have a disengaged mind. But one of the most significant aspects of Norfolk and East Anglia is the hundreds of medieval churches dating from the 13th century onwards that dot the landscape in towns, villages, hamlets and even ghost towns long ago vanished but for their ecclesiastical history. Further, the church architecture, exterior and interior, is one of Norfolk's and Britain's main sources of historical record. While not a religious person myself, I find these monuments to distant times utterly fascinating, and I could easily spend most of my time studying them. So, here is a very potted guide to some of the main features of a medieval church, just in case you come across one and wish to impress your friends. It is in use as a place of worship, Henry, but just not that many in the congregation, except for weddings, christenings and funerals.
