Description Postcards from AdelaideI'm winding up my series of Journals about my adventures in South Australia with some postcard images from its capital, Adelaide. Choosing this set of shots has been very difficult given that Adelaide is a most beautiful small city with such diverse history, culture, and architecture. Almost everywhere a photographer looks, there is something of interest to snap, some things unique to Adelaide, some things of universal appeal.
Let me start with the wonderful riverbank along the Torrens River, part of the parks, gardens and sports facilities that surround the city. The climate of Adelaide is what we in the Northern Hemisphere would call Mediterranean, generally sunny and warm reaching hot in summer, but with moderating breezes from the nearby seas in the Bight of Australia. The trees are mainly eucalypts, and plants, bushes, flowers abound. The Torrens River meanders through these lower reaches and provides a stunning environment for birds.
